Ya know while I agree 100% that we should have gone for the 4th and inches if we pin them deep and stop them on the next drive the play looks smart. If they drive the length of the field and score, which of course they did, it looks "gutless" and more importantly a huge momentum changer. Hindsight.
Count this as one of the games I think we win with Conner. Not only do we make the 4th and inches but the TOP is flipped with a healthy James in the game.
Im a bit baffled by those down on Cheney. Peterman threw two int's and the o line was not blocking too well early so why would you "open it up" at that point. When your talent level is pretty equal and you're on the road in front of a crazy crowd you fight to keep it close and win it in the 4th Q. As soon as it looked like that it was getting away from us he opened it up. By the way this was his first game coaching Pitt against a Power 5 opponent. Maybe he deserves a little slack??
KF is a very experienced HC. Every single time we have played them and lost his late game adjustments totally out coached our staff. Chryst, Graham...Not this time. Our adjustments were just as effective and we played them even right down to the end. And C'mon I will take a 57 yard FG to beat us just about any day. You simply have to give them tremendous credit for that feat.
Narduzzi is "learning" how to be a HC but he is not stubborn and has this program heading in the right direction for the first time in a very long time. Our FB budget is increasing every year for the next four years. I gotta love where we are headed.
