does anyone expect Duzzer to use Ford differently net year? Some talk (on here anyways so nothing of substance) about moving him to field/free. Maybe Duzzer and bates get a little mad scientist on us and give him more freedom or responsibilities?
A few thoughts. #1, risky to mess with something that is obviously working. #2, the boundary safety, or Ford, really looked different than with Whitehead. I was really down on whitehead's role because he was always "in the box" and really had to focus too much on run support, which took his athleticism out of defending the vertical passing game.. Now that could have been because our defense sucked and he had too.. I don't see the same with Ford. His role, in boundary, really had him defending the middle too so that idea of moving him to Free to "play centerfield" isn't that relevant.
Now another factor is, we probably lose Hamlin. Is it easier or in our best interest to move him to field and have a younger guy play boundary vs. keeping him there and asking a first year player to be our free/field safety?
A lot of questions, i don't have answers too. One thing i hope, that duzzer really gives Ford more responsibilities and gets creative with him. Kind of like our version of Polamalu, pitt style.. He's a once in a decade (if not longer) kind of talent..
