In case you missed Chris' podcast today, apparently Franklin is trying to get Pitt commit Cam Bright to visit. He hasn't offered yet, but if he visits, he probably will.

As Chris asked: How did PSU find out about Bright????

It will be interesting to see how Narduzzi handled it if Bright decides to take the visit...

Absolutely the correct response. If we lose Cam Bright to PSU at this point it is solely on us. If we can't sell that they haven't been interested until now and we have been there, then we aren't getting the job done. Now, if they have another kid higher on their board who they want to bring on instead? Then make the cut and be honest with the kid in the end, but you better be 100% you don't miss out on both or get left with spots or an inferior athlete.

Bingo! He knows that PSU isn't on the same level as OSU and Michigan, but he arrogantly still believes that PSU is a cut above Pitt, even though he couldn't flip any Pitt commits last year and got his ass beat on the field this year (and will again next year).

Weird because up until a few years ago, PSU prided itself in not offering kids that commit to Pitt.

I think Franklin uses Pitt's commitment list as potential PSU recruits for 2 reasons.

1. Pitt has a reputation of finding quality 2 and 3 star players so when Plan A and Plan B fall through for PSU, they pull up Pitt's list to see who Pitt identified

2. It shows Pitt coaches and fans who the "big boy" is. On field results mean little to Penn State. They root for attendance, recruiting, and bad stuff to happen to Louis Freeh and the NCAA.

I gotta say that although it is commonplace and "acceptable" to recruit committed players, what Penn State has done here is about as low as you can go in recruiting.

They need a LB after missing on some targets, so they DELIBERATELY pulled up Pitt's commitment list and found a LB from Alabama with very few D1 offers, a kid they NEVER would have heard of if he didn't commit to Pitt. Its one thing to recruit Pitt's local commits but to go after some "diamond in the rough" that nobody heard of and the only reason you know about him is because you looked up Pitt's commit list, that's as slimy as it gets.

I hope Narduzzi doesn't take his foot off the gas next year like he did this year.

Clearly it was said local guys are of course targets, as you have conversations with them far before they commit anywhere. Cam Bright was a 2 star alabama player when we recruited him. That was the difference.
Anyways, Sanders committed early, and still attended Pitt games on his own, clearly he was a Pitt fan. We also flipped Mathews and Got the DE out of Michigan, Weaver, the last day when PSU fans thought he was going there. As with Watts, and Franklin tried to flip Hamlin, Pugh, Campbell, and another, cant remember which.

King recruiting is a dog eat dog affair.You have to lie,cheat and steal sometimes to get ahead in that game.They all do it even my man Nick gets down and dirty.Franklin whined his head off about negative recruiting.Why because he was trying to get the word out to recruits about it before they personally came in contact with it!IMaybe a coach or two would keep from doing it against him.Its a game and a game that their jobs depend on.James is also a crier,m y goodness he did it on national TV,shame on him! It is unethical because Penn State doesn't recruit Alabama and the only reason they ever heard of the kid is because they pulled up Pitt's list to see if they can flip anybody. if this kid played at Penn Hills or in Ohio, NJ, MD, etc, oh well, they have every right to try to flip him but their recruiting "lead" was Pitt's commitment list and that is unethical.
