He is 0-6 as an underdog. Perhaps, worse than that, he is only 13-4 as a favorite.

Narduzzi is 3-3 as an underdog and 5-0 as a favorite.

"Performance against Vegas" can tell you a lot about a coach.

The irony is that Franklin may have a chance to get his first underdog win against us. I wouldn't bet on it though.

Admittedly, I don't follow the betting lines much but the fact MSU is only a 1.5-point favorite at home vs a horrible psu team does surprise me.

Win some holiday cash by placing some money on that game. If you think Hackenburg was beat up against Temple and UM last week, just wait until he sees the MSU defense this week.

Is Conner Cook ruled out of this game as well? That's very, very odd. The game is in Lansing too, no?

I'll shovel everyone's snow in Pittsburgh by hand with a shovel for the whole winter if Frankinfield, Franks, whatever his name is from the Cow Pasture stadium wins this game!

Take MSU with the pts and buy the family some really nice Christmas presents!

Here's the thing. Penn State has a good amount of talent. They have an NFL QB, 2 monsters on the DL, a blue chip RB. Franklin just cant coach.

I guess the thought is that with MSU's QB out, they wont score more than 10-13 points on PSU's defense......and maybe they wont. I'd still pick MSU, 14-10.

I'm not sure on the 0-6 stat ----- according to what I have, Penn State was a slight underdog against both UCF in Dublin, and against Boston College in the Pinstripe Bowl.

That said, I do agree with you that "record against-the-spread" is not a meaningless statistic. It does tell you things.

For instance: coming off of a straight-up loss, Franklin is 1-6-1 against-the-spread at Penn State. That compares to Bill O'Brien, who was a rather remarkable 8-1 against-the-spread when coming off of a straight-up loss.

I view performance coming off of a loss as a sign as to how teams bounce back from adversity. The 2012-13 teams knew adversity and ALWAYS responded well to it. The 2014-15 teams: not so much.

More than anything, Franklin lacks a marquee win under his belt. It almost happened against Ohio State last year. But, against bad teams, Franklin can win. Against good ones, no hope.

what is up with that and where did you find it? At this point this game is not even listed on the odds pages of cbssports, espn, usatoday etc....Weird. Can't be 1.5 unless it is emanating from that off the beaten path Cousin Eddie's favorite casino that has games such as heads-or-tails and rock paper, scissors etc...

Suggest SMF save this topic for next year for with Franklin coaching ups they will still be searching for that signiture win over a team not named Army, Millerville State, St. Vincent or whoever their AD and Franklin schedule.
