My God what a horrible debut, down 19 late at home against UC Riverside. Place is as quiet as a tomb.
On the theme of openers. Nate Oats lost to Penn.My God what a horrible debut, down 19 late at home against UC Riverside. Place is as quiet as a tomb.
Nebraska has absolutely nothing coming back. Complete rebuild. Shamiel Stevenson has to feel like he can’t buy a break.
Solid win for Randy Bennett beating Wisky. The guy is underrated. That will help their resume. Was going to mention that Nebraska literally had a whole new team this year, and from what I saw tonight the talent level looked very thin. Hoiberg has his work cut out for him.
Who cares about Fred or Nebraska. I guess there is three or four people on this whole Pitts thread! Ijs

Hoiberg and Oats will be in the Sweet 16 in 4 years.
Was thinking during the game that one of these teams is really going to need this win at the end of the year. Bennett seems to be one of those guys that is very content where he’s at with no plans to ever leave.
Hoiberg and Oats will be in the Sweet 16 in 4 years.
Forgot that game was on but you are right. I was actually thinking of that watching NCSU/GT. NCSU is going to bubble like they are every single year in perpetuity and this loss to GT is going to keep them out I think. Also, I have said before Kevin Keatts is 100% the same dude as Mark Gottfried. Excellent recruiter, big personality, horrendous coach. To be fair, they didn't have Markel Johnson.
As a postscript to the UC Riverside/Nebraska game, Riverside is coached by former Jamie Dixon assistant David Patrick, a native Australian who is trying to rebuild that program by recruiting a ton of players from there and New Zealand.
I thought he did a pretty decent job last year by their standards and they look to be better this year after tonight’s performance.
Curious as to why Stevenson didn’t play in the game. Is he hurt, not good enough, have to sit out the year for transfer?Nebraska has absolutely nothing coming back. Complete rebuild. Shamiel Stevenson has to feel like he can’t buy a break.
He can’t play until the second semester.Curious as to why Stevenson didn’t play in the game. Is he hurt, not good enough, have to sit out the year for transfer?
Woof. I'll take that bet.
In other former Panther news, Marcus Carr went for 17, 7 and 8 in his debut at Minnesota. He can’t play until the second semester.
Come on, you failed to mention the most impressive former Panther performance last night. 4 steals by defensive specialist Parker Stewart!!!In other former Panther news, Marcus Carr went for 17, 7 and 8 in his debut at Minnesota.

X has said that if Carr would have stayed he would have not come to Pitt. I am happy with X over Carr. Stewart's ceiling is JWF. He was a nice bench player on a good ACC team at best.In other former Panther news, Marcus Carr went for 17, 7 and 8 in his debut at Minnesota.

Not sure if I am answering you or the third-person you, but I agree that Carr would have been a very solid ACC player, if not a real difference maker. Glad we have X though.SMF always said Carr (and Stewart) were good young ACC level players.
Overshadowed by his 9 points I guessCome on, you failed to mention the most impressive former Panther performance last night. 4 steals by defensive specialist Parker Stewart!!!

He’ll be a very nice four year player (three for them). In other former Panther news, Marcus Carr went for 17, 7 and 8 in his debut at Minnesota.

No surprise to me. He's a player.
He’s a bad shooter that needs to shoot in volume to score.
Wow. I saw the score at one point and thought Nebraska was up by like 14.And just to show the opener was no fluke Nebraska loses again at home to Southern Utah.

They could be '17-18 Pitt bad this year. As I mentioned in a thread last week, poor Shamiel Stevenson. He will be going through it all again.Same here, apparently they collapsed late in the 2nd half and couldn’t get it done in OT.
Not a good beginning for “The Mayor”.
Probably sooner. We lost to Nichols State. Need someone on this staff that can recruit because they can’t develop obviously.Hoiberg and Oats will be in the Sweet 16 in 4 years.
I will take that bet. I would be surprised if both make the Sweet 16 in 3 years.Probably sooner. We lost to Nichols State. Need someone on this staff that can recruit because they can’t develop obviously.
Well there’s a lot of luck involved. And I’m not a big of a Hoiberg guy as SMF I think he had kind of a lucky run. But Oats will make many deep runs at Bama and soon. He’s a terrific coachI will take that bet. I would be surprised if both make the Sweet 16 in 3 years.
I mean, the very mild situation they were involved in had nothing to do with recruiting. Maybe. They are recruiting basically 4 stars at this point but not setting world on fire. He quickly fired that coach who was caught up in that.Oh yes, Ben Simmons's "godfather." How convenient he happened to be on the LSU staff when Simmons picked LSU and while they had 2 Top 5 classes. Simmons leaves and he leaves for TCU. As the guy said on that wire, TCU's whole staff is dirty. I just wished Jamie had these types of assistants while at Pitt. His only foray into this world with Skerry/Birch was a disaster.
Most teams not wearing Blue sans michigan state and louisville and uva are usually running on alot of luck.Well there’s a lot of luck involved. And I’m not a big of a Hoiberg guy as SMF I think he had kind of a lucky run. But Oats will make many deep runs at Bama and soon. He’s a terrific coach
