Article Free article on Jamal Davis and Pat Amara transferring from Pitt

Wish both young men the best. I was excited about Davis' potential when he signed.

Pat Amara is a great story of a person putting himself in a position to succeed despite potentially back-breaking obstacles in his young life.

Godspeed to both.

Thanks for the article IMO, Amara a great story and was a positive for Pitt. He was not highly recruited and
definitely will be recruited over even more than he has been. He can go some place local (doubt he starts
at Temple) but would be good at a Delaware or a Div 11 school in Pa.
Davis on the other hand is a surprise. Unlike Amara he a was fairly, highly recruited lb'r fron Ohio. We are recruiting better lb'rs and that may have affected his decision. Considering that he couldn't see time ahead of Capara or for that matter Wriginis.....tells me a lot. Also in his case, maybe not fitting in Nard's defensive scheme or something else not mentioned in the article might be in play here.

I heard a rumor that davis was going to rmu was I haven't found anybody or seen anything to confirm that so I wasn't sure if you guys had any info on it

Best of luck to these kids, however I just wish these kids would be a little more patient about playing time. Most players two years into a program are not seeing substantial playing time unless they are really good or the position has been decimated from injuries. I guess that in this instant gratification society that we live in it's too much to ask players work hard and earn their way into a starting job as they become upperclassmen. So much can happen between now and their senior years, it seems such a waste to bail this early. Scott McKillop is a good example of this.

I'd like to see patience too. Mckillup is a great example, ended up as an All American and
a pro in the NFL. Difference is they and others were not looking at a coach like Narduzzi, a
coach who has already shown what he demands, and what his future recruits will most likely
be. Pugh from Aliquippa is a good example, my guess is if he is slotted as a LB'r will jump
ahead of Davis on day one, maybe Pine from Virginia too. I would like to see him remain
at Pitt though. Amara is a different example entirely. Nards is recruiting DB's by the bushel.
Even if Hamlin doesn't come, look at the bunch we have coming in now, plus Ford the year after
and Whitehead already on board. Not to mention Webb, and one or two I've forgotten who are
already here. I think Amaara sees the writing on the wall.
