I'll make this quick tonight as I am about to go to sleep. I've been wondering if Capel was worried from the very beginning of Hood-Schifino' commitment if he might back out.

Part of me thinks Capel always had a little doubt because he was so young in age. My buddy thinks Capel was always skeptical of this verbal commitment. But then Hood-Schifino gives that PG interview in late June and acts like he LOVES Pitt and is going to try and get other kids to come too. So you gotta think Capel read that and felt much better about the verbal pledge right?

I say YES, I think this 180 degree turn all of a sudden caught Capel off guard. But there's no way to know for sure, just an opinion and a poll question.

He's been a part of basketball his entire life, how can a decommit surprise him? To add, its Pitt, they are trying to re-establish the program

I say NO, because if I had heard 3 weeks ago it was a possibility he surely had. I’d go a step further and say they had a conversation about it, Capel told him to think about it before he did it, then he finally did it.

I have absolutely no knowledge of whether or not that happened. Just guessing

No. Because obviously there were rumors, and I think the fact the moment he decided to transfer to IMG likely got the hairs on the back of his neck to stand up.

I am certain it did not catch them off guard.

So are you saying when Hood-Schifino gave that interview to the PG at the end of June that Capel didn't believe him? I guess I'm trying to understand when Capel and his staff were not surprised he decommitted. I mean I guess you could say that any coach would always have a little doubt if a 16 years old kid verbally committed 2 years before. But I would like to know what Capel thought of that interview of Hood-Schifino praising Pitt and all that jazz.

Nope. Capel knows how the game's played. The moment he transfered Coach was concerned

I’m sure it took it as serious as his commitment -
Just noise when the truth was different
