From the other perspective

It sounds like Cininnatti fans have been hanging around the low class WVU fans.

First time at Nippert. I'd say Cincy had an interesting fanbase. I'm not sure of the level of school that UC is but it seems their fans were more like rural or blue-collar looking and a bit rowdy and vocal. Their fans werent too bad but they reminded some of WVU & Steeler fans. Like, hard to explain, but Pitt has like 0 fans like this and that's part of our problem. We need fans from every walk of life, not just 70 year old alums.

I was there in 2008. Tony Pike beat us. We only put up 264 yards to their 396. We had Stull and McCoy. They had Gilyard.

Multiple Cincy fans made anti steeler comments towards me, not knowing that I don't love the Steelers. It was assumed that a Pitt fan was a Steeler fan.

For whatever reason the Wvu chant didn't surprise me.

I came home with a small cooler of Graeter's ice cream. It wasn't available here in Pgh then.

Yeah, I was surprised by the atmosphere. It was actually far superior to 95% of the well over 100 games I've been to at Heinz. They have a full stadium of backers that really care about their program, even though its a small stadium

That was a good case for a smaller stadium IMO I've always felt that Pitt-Cinci could've been a great rivalry for both of us. Pitt would be far better off if we just forgot about PSU and ND and played WVU and Cincy every year in our own 45K on-campus stadium. WVU and Cincy to the ACC would be great for our program

Their stadium size was exactly what Pitt needed... 20 years ago. Stuck with Heinz now.

Honesty, outside of the chants, which are just part of the game imo, the cincy fans were great to us. I can’t say the same about wvu fans when I’ve been to Morgantown.

Got a lot of “beat the shit out of wvu next week” heading out of the stadium
