1) Before everyone jumps ship, remember, last year, with a very old team, we started out awful. Worse than this. That team needed to figure out some stuff, and they eventually did. There’s no reason to think this group won’t similarly figure some stuff out as well.

2) I thought tonight you could really feel how thin the roster is with Kante’s injury, and Dior being gone. Pitt could really use a guard off the bench who is older. Twins played hard today, but we still are like a bruiser short as well.

And speaking of last year, Nike was so valuable off the bench. It wasn’t necessarily a “deeper” team, but Nike was more or less a 6th starter. We don’t have that.

3) Leggett is too important a piece for him to just have a complete zero of a game and expect us to win.

4) Bub is a very young 18 year old, right? Other teams are not going to stop getting physical with him, he just needs to play through it. I was proud of him late though, he made such a nice pass to Leggett for that wide open 3. Just didn’t fall.

5) Clemson feels like a must win, but that is just a matchup nightmare with PJ Hall, Girard etc.

I wouldn’t jump off the bandwagon just yet. If nothing else, I’m really excited to see the freshman guards continue to develop. But Pitt is basically a 3 man offense right now, and if any one of those just craps the bed completely, like Leggett did tonight, it’s just hard for Pitt to make that up. There just isn’t a reliable scorer anywhere else on the roster. I think Lowe might get there. Possibly Guillermo. Maybe Austin. But not yet.
