Last game of the year I saw Pitt press late in the game. First time I have seen them full out press and try to trap the ball and it worked. They forced a turnover and got a quick bucket. It seemed like the next possession they were going to trap again and then backed off.
With the makeup of this squad why wouldn't you implement the press more often? There isn't an anchor that is holding you back from doing so. They have a small and athletic team and it would most definitely work if everyone bought into it. Huggins started pressing when he got to wvu and that has done them wonders. It's not like these kids have never pressed in their lives. I am sure they all have played on AAU teams and traveling teams that pressed quite a bit so the concept shouldn't be an issue.
This is the only gripe I have with JD. He refuses to adapt to the current personnel. If he ever had a team to try and press with this would definitely be the team. I think it would work and it could bring a new dynamic to a team that goes on offensive droughts quite a bit.
