I thought it might be fun to get your thoughts on a future lineup that has, potentially, 10 ranked wrestlers. We have 4 now with none being seniors so let's leave 133, 157, 184 and heavyweight alone. Consider current starters, those that are redshirting like Matthews, Kemmerer and Newell, and incoming freshmen like Camacho and McGill.

If we are to be a top 10 program, we need to have a strong lineup across the board. Curious how close you think we are.

Here’s my best guess

125 Sullivan
133 Camacho
141 phillipi
149 Matthews
157 Kemmerer
165 wentzel
174 McGill
184 nino
197 Cooley
285 Thomas

Could flip micky and Colton

That lineup could have 8 ranked wrestlers. But, I don’t see a likely National Champion. I think Mickey is our best wrestler, but both 133 and 141 are loaded with young guys. And, the way Suriano dominated him to me was a reflection of the gulf between the top three and everyone else at 133.

To me, 125 is the weakest class nationally. It also is probably the easiest one for a freshman to excel in. I never have seen Sullivan wrestle, so I don’t know how good he is likely to be in college. But, next year we will have 3 freshmen and a sophomore competing in that weight class (assuming they all can make the weight) and that should help whoever emerges among them.
