Thought we had the safety

Narduzzi got burned on going for it on 4th down near midfield (previous 2 attempts highly successful).

Pitt loses the games after big victories that we have come to expect. Atitude.. Not mentally strong enough. “We should have won by 14 more”

Pitt underestimated their QB.

Their OC clocked our DC.

we had a penalty happy crew.

Krull is not the most dependable guy on the field.

Thought we did not try to run enough.

Their OL outplayed ours.

Their QB outplayed Kenny today. We did not make things hard enough for him. Very little pressure, constantly misplayed bubble screen/flat.

I think we beat Duke and UNC. Virginia a big game and don’t sleep on Syracuse.

“The book” says Narduzzi made the right call on 4th down. Live by analytics, die by them. But I’ll always defend a HC that goes with the high % play that statistically increases our chance to win.

Good summary, add in very poor tackling- have them a ton of yards and extended ddrivrd

When you go against QBs like this and the UNC and UVA QBs, you need to disguise coverages and design varied and previously not employed blitzes. You can’t just do what we do.

You also can’t continually concede 8 yards on every bubble screen and flat pass.

Need to tackle better, particularly when it comes to using the sideline as an additional defender.

I’m sleeping on Syracuse, Pitt beats them by 3 TD’s. I see one more regular season loss out there, probably UNC.

The 8 yards thing has been frustrating for years… you just CANNOT give away free yards like that

I knew it was over as soon as I saw Pitt players during pre game warm up with their cell phones. It was over @ that point before it started. They bought into their own hype and got burnt.

I think we smack Duke, beat UNC and Virginia… I’m actually worried about Cuse for some reason

The UVA QB is as good as the Miami QB. To win, we will need a different approach.
Sorry... the Miami QB was not that good. Witness the play calling in the 2nd half with the reliance on WR screens. He was forbidden to throw downfield. Of course Randy Bates played right into their hands by getting no pressure on him until the second half - when it was too late. This boy has to GO.

That’s the exact read he’s suppose to make.

That throw he made to the WR for the TD where our defender is coming in, was ELITE.

That throw on the first drive where he looks off his first read and rifles the ball down the sideline on a dime to his second read, was ELITE.

I don’t think he’s an elite QB yet. But he’s damn good. And he’s elite relative to most young QBs.

"Miami QB was not that good." Strange take.

The given yards on a bubble screen is the most frustrating thing to me. As aggressive as this defense is meant to be, how does it continually happen? It is easily telegraphed and is a wide throw. It would be nice to be aggressive there and get an easy pick 6.

They wouldn’t throw it.

The whole point of that play is the QB comes to the line, and counts the numbers in the box.
If the numbers are two heavy in the box, he throws it to the outside.
if the numbers are light in the box because the team is trying to stop that pass, he hands it off.

He’s not going to throw that pass if we’re playing it.

They put 3 receivers out on the flat together, and Pitt never played them tight. I don't care how many were in the box, the coverage was soft and always left 2 blockers on the 2 db's, with the 3rd db 10 yards off the line.

Miami are a bunch of thugs and proved it early on .
Pitt merely reacted ... 10-2 ...

I get what you’re saying. It’s obvious our coaches do not think our DBs have the speed or athleticism to play close to the line of scrimmage. But maybe it’s better to get beat deep than let them get an even 4 to 8 yards.

All I’m saying is, it’s wrong to say if we were close to the LOS, it would be an easy pick. At that point, Miami would stop throwing the pass. That pass is a pre-determined read before the snap.

Agree if we were playing that close they wouldn’t throw it. My issue is them not closing down on it when it was an obvious throw. It’s one thing if you are breaking down to make a tackle and slow down for that. But they make an easy catch and have 5-7 yards before any contact

He was just okay - those throws were to wide open receivers with little to no resistance. There wasn’t one throw where you said...”that was a big time throw”.

Glad you never graded me.

Just stop what...any competent D1 QB makes those throws...see WM. Just so happened that Tennessee and Clemson’s QBs are trash.

Nonsense. One of his first throws of the game was the pass down the sideline.

He looks at his first read, that pass isn’t open. He comes to his second read. But by that time the WR is pretty far down field. And he just rifles it on the money like the ball was shot out of a cannon.

That’s an absolute big time throw. A lot of QBs, even if they come off their first read, don’t have the arm strength for that pass.

This pass is just ridiculous. It looks easy, but he’s leading the WR away from the angle the defender has on the ball. It’s

That’s HORRIBLE throw...all you have to do is make him sit at the goal line. There’s no one there - the safety is not even in play! That’s a great freaking catch.

I did....once 9 buzzed the flat - the receiver is free because 31 is no where to be found. The receiver is 5 yards in the end zone and it still took a big time catch.

Also, I think you’ve forgotten what you’re trying to argue.

If you want to argue he could have just made a throw that every QB in college football can make, that’s fine. But the throw isn’t horrible. It’s an insane throw. Your argument at best is he made it more complicated than it needed to be.

No...you said it was a ridiculously good throw. I disagree - dude was wide open - now if he hit him right out of his break..then okay. He didn’t.

To be fair, both I and the senior draft director for Pro Football Network said that.

For everything that happened throughout the game, it was lost in the first quarter. You simply can't allow an inferior team to score 21 points that easily on you. The team wasn't ready for what Miami was throwing at them and the tackling was poor throughout the entire game.

Offensively, 34 points at home should be enough. The early drop by Krull would've been a 30-yard game and I believe that was the drive Pitt failed to convert on fourth down.

Another key sequence was after Pitt converted on fourth down late, they ran the same play, threw a fade pass to Izzy, then had Krull throw a pass rather than the best QB in the nation. It resulted in a field goal, but just felt like a lackluster series given all of the weapons on the offense.

During the Florida - Georgia game the announcers said that so far this season Georgia is averaging four missed tackles per game. I think we had a couple plays today with four missed tackles!

And yeah, that's an exaggeration. But not by much.

I may have to apologize to the refs. The fan in the stands had a better replay than the ACCN, but with the RB's foot on the goal line and leaning forward, the ball almost certainly has to be out of the end zone.

I think you’re right, from that angle I would agree with the no safety call.

  • no one in real time thought it was anything but a safety. How none of the refs even hinted at putting their arms up is ridiculous.
  • second game in a row Kenny had a little trouble reading/finding anyone open.
  • But thought he and Whipple made some adjustments again.
  • He actually had a couple bad throws so I guess he's human.
  • Had a couple weird series but they're putting up enough for sure
  • Narduzzi defense exposed again as a sieve
  • He said after watching that Houston bowl game debacle you won't see that again. The defense here has been the no.1 failure under him.
  • Pitt is still Miami's cleveland browns.

UNC will be similar to Miami. It will be a question if the offense can out score them. If the team has a competent QB and
