Went to the Steelers vs Jacksonville game back in 2014. Really nice stadium with decently priced hotels and flights. Lets show them what Pitt can do!

That would be awesome. People have a lot of flight options, and you could also drive if need be.

Get Your Ass off the sofa and start lobbying on their Facebook Site for an invite. These people must be told we will travel ! Pitt has a very long and winning history with The Gator Bowl, Matt Cavanaugh still holds the passing record from 1977.

I was in the stands in 1980 and it was Pitt vs George Rodgers, the stadium was a sea of red until midway thru the 3rd Quarter and then there was but a few thousand fans dressed in blue and gold left to cheer the Panthers to final victory.

Played golf at TPC Sawgrass on a Sunday afternoon in December 2006 and then went to see the Steelers beat the Jags that night. Quite a doubleheader.

I was at both the Ok State and Clemson games and I thought we were pretty well represented. Those who bitch about the traveling obviously are not the ones who travel or should even state an opinion on this in my opinion. Please go to some of these games. Win or lose there are a lot of fans and it is a lot of fun. Obviously winning is better but even the Clemson fans in their loss were ridiculously nice. It has taught me a lot about behavior after games.

I wouldn't get my hopes up. I overheard a mom of a player tell another player's parent last year before the Miami game that we were going to the Gator or TaxSlayet or whatever they called it. She said that is what her son said and sounded very sure.

I did the same thing Shady McCoy's last year at Pitt!!!

Here was my weekend........

Flew into Orlando Wednesday with 2 buddies. Played Bay Hill with buddies and brother-in-law Thursday morning. We drove down to Tampa and watched Shady dominate South Florida. Pitt won 26-19(if memory serves me well). Went to casino all night after game. Drove over to Jacksonville Friday and played TPC Friday and Saturday. Went to Steeler/Jax Sunday night. And unbelievably watch the Steelers beat Jax by identical score 26-19. What a weekend!!!

That is actually a very plausible scenario.

Also, a matchup versus Georgia in Jacksonville would really take the heat off from a traveling perspective because they would buy up all the tickets.

Pitt would provide a name opponent with a great backstory for TV viewers.

I really hadn't thought of this before but I could definitely see this happening.

A little birdie told me that the Gator Bowl will do everything in their power to not invite Pitt. They hate us.

Meh. The Bowl would be great but doesn't it get old beating up on Georgia all the time.

Interesting thing in that write up is they don't mention the opening game of the 1973 season. Georgia was at home hosting a team with a new coach and coming off a 1-10 season. This team started a skinny 155 pound freshman tailback who would run for 100 yards in his debut while leading his team to a shocking 7-7 tie. A good indication of things to come.
