Geno Lewis is a tremendous talent much like Allen Robinson and pleasure to watch. Let be stand up guys and respect, recognize, and enjoy great football especially by college student athletes that love playing for the university not just themselves.
It was a pleasure watching Geno Lewis! This just confirms to me, Franklin wants his own Players more for next few years not just one year.
Chad Voytik is needed at Pitt too, but leaving to perhaps enhance his Draft Status just like Flacco did do by leaving Pitt rather wait on Palko leaving?
Narduzzi has 5 Players leaving too, and this is just a sign Coaches want to establish their mark with their Recruits and Players! This happens in High Schools, Colleges and Pros when New Coaches take over!
For example, Chuck Noll came and watch the last Steeler's Game before he coached Colts in the Super Bowl and named New Steeler's Head Coach.
Andy Russel once told this to us at a Speaking Engagement when selling Bonds. He said Noll came in the Locker Room and said, I just watched your game and can tell you why you did not win? Andy said, you could hear a pin drop and all waited to hear Noll!
Noll went on and said, most of you guys are not very good, you can't run, don't block, and lack skills and next year after I take over, many of you won't be here!
Andy continued, and Noll took over interviewed him, and pretty much said, you got to prove to me what you can contribute to this team. Andy said, it made him mad, and want to prove Noll was wrong. So, one day in Practice and Noll comes up to him, and says, look "Russel" if you put your back foot sideways, you can cover the run and pass either way. Sandy said that improved his game by 100% and Noll kept him as one of just 5 to 10 players that year? Many years later Russel missed a pass that resulted in a TD, and asked him when he got on the sideline, "ANDY" what happen there? Andy said, I did not follow tendencies we practices. Noll just said back, "follow the Schemes we practiced, Andy!" he sdaid when Noll called him Andy it just gave him more confidence and knew he would not be cut!
I used this example, showing how important Head Coaching is when it takes over, and on "Game Day Sidelines Coaching," something Paterno did every Game teaching his Playesr as they came off the field with no Head Set and impacts how Players respond to win later!
Moreover, when Grobe took over Wake forest he played his recruits from day one far more than the Players he inherited. They lost but by the 2nd to 4th years they won the ACC and this was at 4,000 Student Wake Forest with few fans in the stands! Grobe admits now that he should have demanded more resources when he had them winning, but was later fired because he did not have them to keep good players to keep coming to Wake!
Same with Paterno when he took over in 1967, after losing some games, Joe benched his seniors and played his Sophomores and Freshmen. The next two years went undefeated in 1968-69?? So, playing your younger players can make you lose but later win and older players that can now transfer can see it!
I was told by some Aliquippa coaches, that in 1970s, Hopewell High School had only a few Seniors but many Juniors and Sophomores including Dorsett! The Coach played the Juniors and Sophomores more in 1970 going 3-7 but in 1971-72 was 9-1!
So, all I know is Geno Lewis just helped Pitt by going to OU to help himself with his PSU Degree in hand, and OU is being picked a as Top 5 Team this year?
As Godwin, Hamilton and Polk will get way more practices for 2016, and Franklin is finally doing what i suggested he should ahve done on 2014 and 2015, dump the seniors, play the Freshmen and Sophomores???? Going 7-6, 7-6, and maybe 7-6 again with a New QB is not much different then going 5-7, or 6-7 and maybe 9-4 to 10-2 in 2016 with all Jrs, Sophomores? Plus, Franklin has to do better coaching up on Game Day Sidelines!
Just a hunch not Gospel, but good for Geno and better for Pitt or Penn State which ever way you want to look at it?
