This kid is impressive -- nice combination of size, speed and power. That TD he scored today on the shovel pass was big-time (and helped lower my BP). His blocking is first-rate.

Wonder what the story is behind him coming to Pitt? He was a walk-on and he's from Virginia. He played LB and RB in high school and excelled at both. In his senior year he had 191 tackles, 13 TFLs, 2 sacks and 3 interceptions, while at RB, he scored 24 touchdowns!

Note to Jerry Dipaola - please do a story on George Aston; was he recruited by anyone? How did he end up at Pitt?

Congrats to George Aston on helping the Panthers get a W today.

Go Pitt.

Henry Hynoski clone. I think HH would have starred in this offense.
I loved Hyno, but they seem totally different to me. Both beasts, but Aston a more versatile offensive threat. That said, could have just been how the coaches used Hyno.

Really excited by how much of a beast Aston has shown to be.

I'm sure someone will jump in with someone better, but Aston is the best walk-on I remember in football or basketball in many years.

Doesn't do anything spectacularly, but does everything well. Seems way too athletic not to have received a scholarship offer at a D1 school.

His family is from Mon Valley area...I won't be specific.... His grandfather still lives here. I went to college with his uncle years ago.

They are good people, Pittsburgh People, through and through.

I believe his high school is pretty small, lower level so I am pretty sure his level of competition was not the highest, maybe that was part of it........he got some looks from 1-AA, and maybe Va. Tech took a glancing look............our gain is their loss. From what I have been told, he is a weight room beast, constantly trying to make himself a better player.

Very nice young man, polite and appreciative of fan support. Has comes out to our tailgates after the games often, win or lose. Good kid.

On a side note, got to meet former Pitt players Darryl Render and Gabe Roberts on Saturday at IUP game, they were there to watch their friend and former teammate Chris Weustner who transferred to IUP for his last year. Nice guys.
