I work down in the north shore and im paying more attention to the development down here and article in gazette today said plans of building a apartment complex where Gold 4 is now has been delayed. I was unaware of this being in the works, regardless it sounds like only a matter of time. Nothing that will effect tailgating this year or probably even next but safe to say, another prime surface lot is going away..
Also, same topic but different area.. 3 hotels going up in Oakland have been approved.. One by Magee, another one on the other side of the cathedral and one down by Fisher Scientific (had no idea that is even considered Oakland but they called it "south Oakland"). Does Oakland really need more hotels?? Is an upscale apartment complex in North Shore really desireable??
Im more of a boring family suburban guy but if I was single, younger and had some cash, still don't think I'd want to live in the north shore. I took kiddos to the game last night, when there is an event it's kind of bustling but no steeler/pitt/bucco game, it gets a tad "shady." I don't know, maybe that is why they are trying to "upscale" it a bit, get rid of the riff raff (See east liberty)..
Thoughts? The north shore thing doesn't upset me but i'll be honest, more hotels in Oakland doesn't do it for me, Marriott Courtyards don't exactly add a college ambience to me...
