Goncalves done for the year

Awful news for a team that can't seem to catch a break or make its own break.

Obviously a terrible setback for the kid. Hope he makes a full and speedy recovery.

poor dude. that sucks. the one position group we couldn't afford to lose players and we get hit with a hammer.

Borbs really is the anti-partridge: he sucks at identifying talent, sucks at recruiting, and sucks at developing them. why exactly is he on staff?

Is this a season ending injury, or is it a shut-in-down-and-prepare-for-the-draft injury like Carter had last season? That's not me being presumptuous - just curious, because I didn't read the article linked.
Narduzzi said that he had surgery today, so unless that is part of his draft preparation, he is injured.

Who would be the third tackle
Depends if Enos is ready to step up. If he's not, they would probably have to shuffle Zubovic out to tackle or something. Not great if you get that deep into the room but that would be true for any program.

Pitt has been pretty fortunate with injuries when it comes to OL until last year. You're getting really young, now, so that just makes everything worse. Even harder when you're playing from behind so often.

Zubovic at tackle would be tough to watch. He might have missed 150 second-level blocks against UNC that could have sprung big plays. Just no speed at all. I would have to think Enos or someone else (not sure where Brown, Andersen, Montgomery, etc. are working or where they are in their development) would be a better move.

Goncalves being out sucks, but it might be a blessing in disguise to get some of these guys ready for next season. And it might incentivize him to come back for next season, as opposed to this one - which is already a lost cause - being his last.

No, Zubovic does not have much speed. Honestly, I was shocked he came back. Kradel is hurt, too, playing or not so you're not exactly as strong as you could be up the middle. The OL being so young and inexperienced is something Pitt hasn't had to deal with for a while. The run blocking is fantastic but pass blocking is a big problem.
