We were the front runners to land this dual national…but he’s blowing up. Could be our #9 in 4 years. Or Harry Kane’s heir.

In all honesty, why would he want to join the U.S.? This is a position that has not been developed successfully in the recent times. He's not gonna remember how effective Dempsey or McBride were up front. He's going to see the musical chair game that's been played.

I mean the kid is an England player so he's England to lose. I wonder though, if at this international level, do these federations pay "NIL" to get them commit to their country. Being sarcastic with NIL but you know what I mean. Can US Soccer offer the kid like $20 million to commit? But if we do, we'd probably have to pay the same to some USWNT dual national. Pitt79's daughter is eligible for Greece. Maybe we can pay her.

Players aren't developed with their national teams, they are developed with their club teams. Dempsey and McBride weren't good players because they played for the US, they were good players because they developed at places like Columbus and New England and Fulham and they took those skills to the US.

Balogun isn't going to develop any more or any less as a player if he ends up playing for the US or England or Nigeria. Now if you want to say that he'd rather play for whomever ends up managing England than he would for Burp because Burp has no idea how to set up a team, sure, that certainly could come into play. Which is just another reason why we need Burp out, sooner rather than later.

All depends what the England roster looks like age wise. Would he get to play with englands senior team and actually play. If he determines that his chances are minimal he may consider the US. But if he has been with England already why change now. They might see a future for him.

Yeah you nailed it. We need a manager so that Balogun knows the direction of our program.

Now, a few months ago our Federation was feeling pretty good, and using recruiting terms, he was thought to be a heavy USA lean. And that’s while Berhalter was our Coach. Say what you want about Derp, he got us Musah and Dest. Perhaps he’s the reason we were in good shape with Balogun. I don’t know. But Southgate is staying for England, and we need clarity on our future or we will lose this kid.

Btw, how did we lose Johnathan David? Was that Derp or before Derp?

Btw. Berhalters contract expires in 8 hours, 59 minutes and 35 seconds.

But who’s counting.

I think the best thing that he has done in the job is to get dual nationals to play for the US. He didn't get everyone (there's no reason to think that he should either) but he got a lot of guys who have contributed.

the attractiveness level (no qualifiers, hosting WC)

For the next two or three years that isn't actually a selling point, that's a detriment. It means the only competitive matches are in the Gold Cup/Nations League, which is no big deal to anyone. That's why getting into next year's Copa America, and sending your best team rather than your B teamers like we did the time they invited us but we weren't hosting.

At some point, hosting the World Cup does become an attraction. But not for a couple more years.
