Jamie Dixon was never getting us to the Final Four. He had 12-13 years and he failed. This is the time for Pitt AD Barnes to land a coach who has either reached the Final Four or who has been in a few Final Eights. No more losing in the first round of NCAAs.

I am just hoping we get someone who can at least get us into the NCAAs regularly. At this moment I am not convinced that will happen.
At this point, I have no confidence that we'll even hire someone who can get us above 0.500. This is going to get pretty ugly.
Oh yes, press our Easy button and have that "Final Four Coach" appear.
I agree. Maybe it was time. But Barnes' nuts are on the line now. Good coaches don't leave good jobs. It's up to Barnes to make the Pitt job better than it is perceived to be right now. And he better get a big name, big splash, current head coach that has been highly successful for years. And even then, I'll be very suspicious of the hire until I see results.
According to wikipedia, there are like 26 active coaches that have been to final fours. if we are lucky, we can hire ourselves a mike davis.
In reality good hires turn out to eventually be bad hires all the time. I guess Jamie Dixon was a bad hire going by this board.
I'd like just one person to tell me how we intend on getting a coach that will get us to the Final 4. I'd be happy if we get a coach that can get us into the NCAA Tournament most years, as we have been doing under Dixon. It isn't going to happen for a while now.
