Good for Capel! F’ These Refs!

Worst officiated game I have ever seen!

Quite honestly, I agree. It was absolutely awful and mostly for what was NOT called. When Chuk received 1 of the double technicals for getting stepped over, I knew we were in for a long game.

They were shooting FTs with almost 11:00 left in the 1st half and only had 3 fouls called on them. It’s easy to blame the refs, and most of the time it is not the issue, but this was absolutely awful.

The refs were covering their sorry asses with some of those double technical calls. Pretty pathetic.

But this team is going to make life miserable for a lot of teams in the ACC, once they learn to play better defense, limit turnovers, and distribute the ball better. The assist to turnover ratio today was awful. That has got to improve, and it will.

It's astounding to me that a team like WVU can play such aggressive & physical defense but yet have so few fouls called on them, 26 for us today and 23 for the Hoopies.

And then to have the announcers just ignore egregious contact, it's beyond me.

Hopefully the reciprocation will happen at the PETE.

You realize that 23 fouls in a game is actually a lot more than average, right?

Actually, in case you missed it and don't realize, my comment was more in line of they had fewer fouls than the style of defense they play should warrant.

Heading into today's game WVU had 155 fouls and we had 158, in one more game for us. They had 49 steals to our 52. I think that they should call more fouls against them than the 19.375 per game they average, especially when we average 17.5 with a much less aggressive style.

If you disagree, fine. But don't make your statement sound like other folks don't watch basketball as closely as you.

How many fouls, exactly, should the style of defense they play warrent?

You know it is quite dumb to ask exactly how many fouls should be called due to the style of defense they play. You say exactly as if I am the only person who believes that they could have more than they get called.

There were no times yesterday when you thought that they should have been called for a foul, none?

Let's just say, more than what they call on them.

Well if you can't figure out how many they should have called against them, then isn't it hard to say that they didn't have nearly enough called? I mean they had 23. I think, or at least I'd hope, that we'd all agree that if they are supposed to get called for one or two more than that that would clearly be within the normal "margin of error" for officiating in a basketball game. But if they are supposed to get called for like 30 or 35 fouls per game then that's a problem, especially since they are only getting called for 19 or 20 per game according to your numbers. That would be a real problem.

It would also be something that lots of people would notice. Rather than just the aggrieved fans of a team that lost a game.
