Good things come in threes ...

To be fair, he had the worst athletic administration in the history of Pitt.
Exactly 💯 and his assistant coaches were horrible. JM could've been decent here his 2nd time around but the lack of leadership at Pitt was flatout awful. If the plan was to use JM as a figurehead then they should've surrounded him with a better support system and $$$$. H2P

i had a few friends on the wvu team in 95 and 96 when they played against pitt. that 95 game, the one at pitt, wvu won pretty handedly. They were telling me that they were watching film after and there were times when the defensive coach (think it was Doc Holliday at the time, would stop the film and ask the players what the heck was going on, there were so many mistakes, lineup issues, not enough players on the field. the coach and the players were actually laughing at what was going on..

Another example was they were watching special teams and 3 of pitt players on the kickoff team were already on the sidelines while the play was still going on. another coach replayed the film because they couldnt believe it..

i just remember those guys telling me that and i was just shaking my head in disgust. to say that Majors was a failure of epic proportions is honestly putting it mildly..

that example of 3 Pitt players on the sideline while the play was still going on can't possibly say anything about the coaching

it just can't

You think that would happen under Saban? Yea, me neither. For any player to do that nevermind three there have to be serious issues. If that is indeed true of course.

I'm sure it's true

I'm sure it is a player problem but likely, very likely, a play where a kid was thought tackled or out of bounds and players trotted off the field

if someone can posit the scenario where three exited the field knowingly and they either weren't coached up properly or were goofing around or intentionally disregarding and disrespecting their team and mainly coaches, I'd like to hear it

I'm merely saying the example most likely doesn't connect to coaching or the mess at the time

Scott Frost is back. Rich Rod is back. The only sensible move? Bring back Wanny!

13-9 v2.0!
Nothing against Wannstedt, but his style of coaching would do nothing to move the program forward. Pitt doesn't need to go back to run the ball, play good defense and kick field goals. It is the 21st Century and all of the elite college football teams score points.
