We beat ND and it would have been a whole different situation for us.

So much for ‘the entirety of the season counts’ BS. That’s hogwash. If your computer numbers suck you’d better win a lot at season’s end or you get dunked on. Penn State to a 10 and us in 11 play in makes no sense if looking season long.
Don’t forget: Almost every year an 11 from the play in round makes at least the Sweet 16 if not further. Why not Pitt.

If we could just put together a couple performances like Northwestern, interesting things could happen!
Ironically Pitt gets to go back and play in Greensboro where Duke crushed them if they win against Miss St and play Iowa State. That could be an advantage knowing that court and playing there a week earlier if they win the play in.

Correct. That loss was killer. Terrible failure at a terrible time. I think we all felt it at the time. Still didn’t expect to have to play in.
Wouldn't have had to if they played a respectable game against Duke. With NET focusing on margin of victory that blow out loss hurt Pitt badly.

According to that, every game of the tournament starts at 1:00.
Seems unlikely.

The NCAA web site has the game times for all the Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday games.
The actual game times, not 1:00 for all 36 of them.
I hear you but the easier task would have been to simply knock off the worst team in the league in the last week of the season. That loss had to resonate with the committee. The Duke blowout just reinforced the skepticism the ND loss created.
