Guys I sat there today late in the 4th QTR, watched this D for 4 hours, I finally looked at my 83 year old father and he said "We Cannot Stop this Team."
1) Is our D that bad, I mean this is a MAC team, one of the better teams in MAC, but GEEZ they are the MAC for God's sake and made our D look Bad. I read how we had all these 6 year senior coming back, all kinds of Depth, Baldo played well and Pine made some tackles but overall our Secondary is getting burnt. It appears to me that they are not talented to go one on one's with Corners vs. Wideouts. I know no adjustments which is unheard of. Will Narduzzi change schemes for next week, I doubt it.
2) Speaking of Duzz, $5M a year. Are we getting a fair return on him and the Coaching Staff? No, in my opinion. However, I am the kind of guy to give him the entire year to see how it ends up. I hope better than 7-5, however, not so sure after today. Also, maybe the Duzz is as good as we can get and should we be happy with 7 wins and a bowl appearance? $5M should get some decent candidates if we go in a different direction at the end of this year. Heather is a Duzz supporter so I would say not.
3) Kenny Pickett is a BEAST. After getting his head smashed in the turf at the end of the second QTR. He played with heart, and is a true leader. Keep it up Kenny, the sky is the limit for the next level.
4) Going back to our Coaching Staff. WM jumps out to a lead in the first half, I kind of figured it would go that way. However, 20-20 at the half. Just like 0-0, I figured we would come out and take back over the game especially since we received the kick off. What I remember, 1st play hand off to Vincent Davis lost a yard, 2nd play short pass in the flat to Kenny's right for 5 yards, 3rd play incomplete pass. 3 and out. We punt, WM goes all the way down the field and takes the lead, we lose momentum and have to play catch up all 2nd half. I hate that hand off to Vincent Davis on first down, it doesn't work, no jet sweeps today, what about the half back pass?
5) Shere says it all the time, getting 3* recruits results in mediocrity, I agree. The Freasby kid was never coming to Pitt, so don't be upset. He would have committed months ago if that was the case. Good luck to him, wouldn't u ask Mr. Devonshire how the Coaches treated him before u make a final decision? I know these are kids but geez I would have done that.
6) My last point, football is won by athletes. Put our best guys on the field. I don't think Duzz does this, play some of the younger guys. I hope there are changes in the starting lineup on D with the results we had today.
7) Hey get ready for the Military Bowl or Little Caesars Bowl in Detroit, maybe we play WM again? Lets hope not. I need a chuckle after today.
