I applaud the D for only giving up those 9 points early. I can't, for the life of me, understand why VT tried to switch to the running game in the red zone. Certainly played into Pitt's strength.
I watched a VT team fearlessly throw the ball up for grabs time after time, knowing the success rate was going to be pretty darn good against corners with a track record of being unable to consistently make plays.
It is one thing to work the officials, it is another to act like a lunatic. And had those officials called the game tighter, Pitt's penalty yardage would have been astronomical.
Finally, head coaches who "don't mess" don't last very long in that profession. You are kidding yourself if you don't think Meyer is making his wishes VERY CLEAR over that headset.
