Great article on Pitt's Florida recruits

Good futures for all 4 guys. We beat out very open level programs for these guys, and they are from florida. This bodes well for future prospects there

The most important benefit of getting these guys is that all the younger studs on their teams are gonna carefully follow them (and Pitt) as they decide where to play ball. This singularly puts Pitt on their radar and will make it MUCH easier to recruit the next group of FLA studs!!!

Thanks for posting the link. Interesting article. Have to like what the Florida guy had to say about all four of the Panther recruits. I especially liked what he said about OLineman Zack Williams. I thought ZW's highlight video was pretty impressive. Looks like a nice future OT.

And I didn't realize that Rashad Weaver had excelled in an all-star game and was considered so athletic. I see that Michigan signed two 4-star DEs - one from CO and one from CA - to make Weaver expendable to them.

Number of "players" in FL is amazing. In this year's class, ND has 7, Maryland has 7, Michigan has 6, Ohio St. has 4, and Pitt has 4. Oddly, AL only has 1. PSU has 0.

What's also odd is that only 11 of Florida State's 25 recruits are from Florida, but 16 out of 18 for Miami are from Florida.

Finally, WVU, who I thought used to make a living out of FL recruits, only has one of their 27 from FL this year. Must be a Big 12 thing. WVU did hit Ohio hard, getting 7 commits, including Ferns, the LB that PSU wanted.

Go Pitt.

Getting Florida kids is nice and all, but often consists of dumpster diving.

You like William's potential, but he is the kind of kid they normally would get down there, more limited interest.

Camp, in particular, Weaver and Miller were kids getting real interest from high majors.

Or in WVU's case, a Miramar thing. And now that Damon Cogdell, the former hoopie player and former Miramar HC, was canned by Holgy after this past season, the bridge is probably not just broken, but burnt instead.

well if we can "dumpster dive" for Romeus, Greg Lee, Antonio Bryant, Blades and Session and many others we pulled out of Florida that wasnt good enough for the Florida schools, I would be more than happy

I think Louisville loves Florida

Listed below are Pitt Florida recruit numbers and names to qualify or disqualify the Florida analysts claims. Some were impressed with the article because he spoke highly of Pitt's recruits. Personally, I think he was appeasing his audience to a degree and blowing hot air. Quote: " A 3-star in Florida could be a 4-star elsewhere". Look at the roster below and put that to test. Taking his theory and re-applying it, one can assume, a Florida 2-star could be a 3-star elsewhere.

There's no question concerning Florida high school football. However, lots of blanket statements are made about a lot of things and then taken for truth. The analyst kind of cherry picked to make his point. However, I'm not sure Pitt is a good example to affirm it. Perhaps some other schools, but I'm not sure Pitt's history with Florida players confirms his overall thoughts. Maybe, but I'm not so sure.

One could say 3 star recruits Darrel Revis Aaron Donald, Jason Pinkston, Mick Williams, Scott McKillop, James Conner and 2 star recruits Devin Street, Tommie Campbell and host of others would have been rated higher had they lived in Florida. Had Tyler Boyd attended Miami Central, Pitt would have probably recruited against the entire SEC plus Miami, Florida State and Clemson. But, he attended Clairton PA High School, not Miami Central.

Bottom line, it goes both ways. Within a 10 year period, 35 recruits came from Florida. That's around 15% or nearly a class and a half of players to draw some conclusions from. Mixed bag to say the least. For every Gus Mastakas and Rashard Duncan there's a Roderick Ryles or Jared Martin. Same could be said for Pennsylvania, Ohio, NJ, etc. One thing I do agree with him on however, is the impact of year around football. While, not year around, the emergence of 7-on-7 tournaments and competition may have a role in western PA's seeing an uptick in defensive backs. Tournaments and practices in spring and summer has seemingly paid some dividends.

Good rundown - shows that we've had a ton of misses in FL. But we're usually totally outgunned there and are trying to find the so called "hidden gems," or get one of those "late bloomers" like Greg Romeus

This year, we seemed to be after some of the more highly sought after FL guys - guys with a lot of good offers. We won't know for a while, but Keyshon Camp, Henry Miller, and Zack Williams sure look promising. And Rashad Weaver has some things going for him, as well (including what should be a giant chip on his shoulder to show the Wolverines they missed the boat).

Go Pitt.
