8-4 with a great offense and a terrible defense. Will be ranked in the top 25 and with a win in the bowl game will be close to a top 15 program. The defense needs work and that's where coach's first 2 classes are focussed.

Giving up 61 to Syracuse doesn't bode well for a move into the Top 25.

The 4-8 teams in the Big 12 don't put up 61 against the league's ranked teams every week.

Last week we played a 4 win team and gave up 14... and 7 of those were by the Duke defense.
Any win in a P5 conference is a good win.

I don't believe Pitt can give up 61 to 4-8 Syracuse and expect to climb much in the polls.
We gave up close to 700 yards and 60+ points to a bad Syracuse team. There is no excuse for that and it was a backup quarterback no less. I'm happy they won but this is not a top 25 team at all. And Narduzzi needs to be held accountable for this. Not impressed with him at all. Canada is the guy!!

We were giving them the bubble screen they took it. Our guys were totally gassed with all the injuries and our offense scoring in 3 plays every drive.

This is the greatest offense in the 120+ year history of Pitt football.
If Pitt was a top 25 team with a 36-21 win today, then they are with a 76-61 win too.
Pitt has one of the top 2 or 3 offenses in all of college football. yes, the defense sucks, but evaluate the product as a whole.
We're the only team to score 40+ against Clemson. we're the only team to score at least 28 points in EVERY game this year. and we did it against the 6th toughest schedule in football.

With no adjustments being made, with press coverage with guys that can't do it or 3rd and 5 and the DB's are playing 12 yards back?? C'mon man Narduzzi is responsible for this albatross on defense. Stats are for losers, we won the game--all that matters is the W and we got 8 of them. I don't care if we give up 60 points a game next year, as long as we score 61
Okay I'll answer it. In all honesty yes it would have. It would have because that would have been 2 weeks of the defense holding teams under 24 points and showing improvement. I know we can score but watching our defense improve late is also important. What kills me is Narduzzi seems utterly clueless when it comes to this. It seems like lots of our guys are frequently out of position, missing tackles, etc... So yes I would be happier with a 36-21 score. And I think so would the voters.

I saw Pitt beat Temple 76-0 at the Vet in 1977 (?), I think Temple fumbled like 3 kickoffs in a row or something like that.
