.....In town for the Joe Moore O-Line Clinic, What a great collection of outstanding O-Linemen that will be participating in this Annual event that salutes the man who was to a big extent responsible for so many NFL careers. A classic example of someone not necessarily needing to be at the highest level to be one of the best at his job.
Joe Moore was a legendary H.S. coach until Jackie pulled him from Upper St. Clair to take over his O-Line. And take over he did going onto deliver at 1 period at Pitt, for 3 consecutitive years if a kid started for Pitt on the O-Line he would go onto play at least 2 years minimum in the National Football League. From 80' to 82'.
The man had the face & voice of a classic old school football coach, he swore like a sailor & took no bs from any player's...and they both hated him & loved him for it at the same time.
He was special ... There is a classic publicity picture of many of Moore's players dressed like Mafia gangsters w/ Marino dressed in Pitt game uniform as they surround him as bodyguards. If someone has the computer savy to find & post it I'm sure some of the younger members will like seeing it....
Hail to PITT !!!
