Just read that New Hampshire is again favored to win the EGAL with N.C. State and George Washington tied for 2nd. How does UNH have a dominant gymnastics team?

Well of course they do, that’s apparent, but how do they do it successfully vs PITT, NC state and UNC

Who else in the northeast has gymnastics? Maybe they are the closest D1 school for the whole northeastern corner of the country?

How was Edinboro one of the top wrestling programs in the country for a very long time? It's a lot easier for a smaller school to focus on a less popular sport and be successful than it is for them to focus on football or men's basketball and be successful at either of those.

Just checked roster thinking you could have s good point. 5 NJ girls and 3 Pa girls on roster.

It looks like the only other D1 gymnastics schools in the northeast besides Pitt and New Hampshire are Brown, Cornell, Penn, Penn State, Rutgers, Temple and Yale. So that's a total of nine schools and four of them are Ivy League schools. So if you aren't getting in to one of those you are down to five choices.

UNH is not dominant by any means. The league is just ok. Gymnastics has maybe 65 or so programs and 12 scholarships per team. And you only need a handful of scores per event to be good. There is a ton of talent for few scholarships. The cream of the crop (top 6ish teams) get the studs and the rest are all very comparable. Don't know who UNH coach is, but if they are personable they will get reasonable talent because so many kids are vying for the the few scholarships. Pitt has a new coach (year or 2) so time will tell if she can close the door on some better recruits.

UNH coach of 30 years retired the end of last year. Think they travel to PITT this week but could be mistaken

Getting the ACC to officially sponsor it would be more credible.
Md leaving leaving blew that up. Need one more ACC school. Can bring along EAGL schools as 'affiliate' members if they want (similiar to B12 wrestling).
