A couple of places [BWI / PSU 247] have said that PSU made up a lot of ground over the weekend with Hamlin. Here is BWI's take.

Hamlin is another prospect that has been staying away from the media since the summer, so we'll stress that there's been more speculation than facts in recent months. We know he attended the Lasch Bash this summer and was looking into attending the game against Rutgers, but he didn't end up making the trip. However, he did attend the game against Illinois this past weekend, so it's a good sign that the staff was able to get him back on campus for a game this season. Hamlin rarely talks, but contacts continue to be very positive in regards to Penn State's standing. That was again the case this weekend. We know the staff would like for him to take an official visit with all the other committed players in January, but as of now, nothing is set. Notre Dame and Pitt are two other schools that are firmly in the mix. Out of those two, we believe Pitt is ahead of the Irish. PSU and Notre Dame are probably neck and neck in second right now.
PSU 247 says pretty much the same thing. Some people will be concerned with the fact PSU is pushing more for Hamlin. But the one constant is Pitt. Just some food for thought.
