Donating to this gave me something tangible to do instead of sit here and sob.

Fundraiser he did in 2020 to give kids in McKees Rocks Christmas presents. Goal was $2,500. No idea how much he got originally, but when I clicked on it, it was at $245k. It's at $390k now.

3.1 million now

He was bringing in 5,000 dollar per minute.

I saw that the Steel City NIL Club made a nice $1,000 donation to the cause last night. Good move by them.

This is outstanding.

Best way to honor him would probably be to learn how to administer CPR and/or how to use an AED.

I know I'm certainly guilty of blowing off the CPR classes that have been offered at my workplace.

My best friend’s wife administered CPR when he had a heart attack. She said it was much more difficult on a 180 lb. man than it was on the training dummy. But, she did save his life. He fell over mid-sentence with a “Widow maker” heart attack.

It is now up to 6,000,000 dollars.

Chris Jericho (no idea who it is, but this morning they said he was famous) gave 5k but misspelled his name has Chrus, so he then gave 5k more with his correctly spelled name.

There’s going to be a hopefully, ultimately, very pleasant challenge to figure out what to do with this (astonishing) amount. I pray that DH is able to be part of that process.

Wrestler and lead singer for the band "Fozzy".

It says it's now going to his community initiatives and his current fight. Not entirely sure what that means, but maybe some of this can be used to comfortably retire him when he comes out of this. I'm pretty sure you need three years of playing to even get the NFL pension, so he isn't there yet. Though I'll admit I have no idea if there is any type of payout for a career-ending injury if he wasn't insured (I also have no idea if he was).

He is a famous professional wrestler from my youth.

His marketing rep:

BTW, this guy played pro football in Poland, is WVU's NIL brand coach, and I think is Dante Cephas's rep (not 100% sure).

Sounds like this was an old toy drive that had ended but someone found it and the donations stated pouring in. You hope there are no legal issues between the daycare saying the money should be there's or Go Fund Me saying the money has to be spent as initially directed. It has since been changed to his charity's name "Chasing Millions." I am sure that a large portion will go into that and benefit kids from McKees Rocks and if this is really a career-ending injury, I don't know how anyone would be against some of the money going towards "lost wages" or expenses incurred by the family due to this.

That Rooney dude is a big-time opportunist. Rubs me the wrong way. He has been all over the news with this acting like he is Damar's agent. He really isn't. And he's destroying college football with getting into people's ears about me-first brandings and NIL.

But what I was saying is if you go to the page itself, there is a new mission statement on it that mentions Damar's care, in addition to the toy drive. It was never going to a daycare. Yeah, I don't care if he's getting a cut. I hope he is.

He isnt destroying college football. The NCAA took care of that. And I don't mind him giving these updates. Yea, he does benefit financially from the visibility but that's just the reality of it. I appreciate his updates.

Fairly certain that there is no legal recourse for a beneficiary to claim the benefits of a two year-old charity drive, but I guess that oculd depend on if he has a contract with the various organizations and what they say. There could be state fraud issues or the donors could have the right to get their donations back, neither I would imagine would happen.

Not singlehandedly, but he's one of the leeches who hear about other people getting money and need to find a way to get a cut. No different from a lot of other businessmen; I get it. But him saying that he gets no cut of the NIL is technically true but incredibly disingenuous.

I hope Damar is able to recover and dictate where the money goes. 6 million is a lot for toys. But it could go a very long way to helping youth in McKees Rocks.

Its going to his foundation. They changed it. Inotherwords, scholarships and other programs. I would guess the toy drive would now just be a very very small piece. That type of money, once endowed, can pay for the education for a lot of McKees Rocks kids.

What "updates" is he giving? If I'm the family, do I really need to have this guy involved to give updates? I'm not big into social media so maybe nowadays you need someone to handle all that, I don't know.

The only updates we've gotten are from him and his uncle. I would say that as his marketing rep, he would be authorized to provide updates but he probably should run it by the family. I cannot imagine that he didnt and he's out there doing this on his own.

He did. But it just has that feel of suave grime. Just a profession that lends itself to finding the money and then sweettalking one's way into it, I guess. Reminds me of when Drew Rosenhaus is there patting some $100M athlete on the back at a press conference or something.

I mean that's just how those upper-level sales guys are. They all have to have that personality

The Go Fund Me is up to almost $7 million. The Colts gave $25,003. The Pats gave $18,003. Matthew Stafford gave $12,000. The Texans and Tom Brady each gave $10,000. Other NFL teams and players gave various amounts.

He'll probably end up as a consultant to the foundation getting paid $300,000 a year for doing squat.

Reminds me of back in high school. I had one friend who was working the long shot basketball game at Kennywood and stealing money by the handful and another friend (they weren't friends with each other) who, despite not being able to offer absolutely anything to the endeavor, approached him and asked him what he needed to do to get a cut.

Some people just have that snaky personality. And it no doubt works. Country clubs are overflowing with that type.

I mean clearly none of Damar's immediate family want to do interviews and Rooney has direct access to them and seems like he's been at the hospital. I can't imagine the family is unaware of what he's been saying, if they haven't instructed him personally to be their mouthpiece.

What does it matter if he is Damar's agent, manager, marketing rep, or chimney sweep? It appears that whoever he is to Damar, he is the one there and the family knows and trusts him or else he'd have been shut down after his first tweet. If something like that happened to a loved one, you'd be relieved to have someone else out there taking the questions and focus off you.

They aren't bound to some worldly obligation to do interviews that he's removing from their plate. They don't have to say shit if they don't want to. Yes, I know they're aware of what he is saying; that still doesn't mean this - and many other things, as I wasn't limiting my comments to this alone, he does - isn't completely opportunistic. Lawyers sends out flowers and cookies to their high-earning clients all the time, too; maybe you'd call that a genuine gesture. I wouldn't; I would roll my eyes into the back of my head. And maybe there is enough nuance to it that we'd both be right.

^^^10000 f'n percent this.

It is complete insanity to be pissy with family or even mentioning it. You got a son that literally temporarily dead playing a game who is in a coma. None of them were media-ites. The outpouring of support and sympathy has to be heart warming for the family, and I am sure they appreciate the wordsmithing of others for allowing them to be with their son and not spending all day trying to craft releases.
