Happy Steve Pederson Firing Day! Post your airing of grievances.

Are you really saying that you would hire Graham and Chryst before Wanny? or that they did an equal job here?
I’m saying there was no “decade long” slide .
We were mediocre under wanny and mediocre after -
That we went to the same mediocre 3 years in a row 3 different coaches proves it

EXACTLY. Pitt let Barnes off very easy. I am not a lawyer but I would think Barnes had a fiduciary responsibility to the program. While I don't think Pitt would have won in court, a lawsuit would have brought about some very interesting discovery. I would have loved to see Barnes and Turner under oath. What they did was criminal. And Turner, knowing Stallings was going to be fired, may have helped convince Barnes to allow Jamie to walk.
It would also have exposed the incompetence of the chancellor and trustees in letting all of that happen. All of us were witnessing it in real time in horror yet none of the university officers responsible to stop it did a thing. A trial, which never would have happened anyway, settlements would have occurred well before… would have been quite embarrassing to university leadership.

No different than what happens every day in corporate America and in the current U.S. government and administration. And it's not going to stop any time soon.

Current ?
Lulz
One talked about infrastructure , challenging reliance on China for tech , and lowering deficits /
Another actually is doing it

Nerdy and smiley did not get us into the ACC . In the words of pitt insider frank gustine all nerdy did was take the phone call .We were the fall back after UConn was black balled .
Your insider is wrong .
My acc insider knows more

Not to put too much spin on the ball but a reminder that peak wanny was finishing 3rd in the Big East and winning the Tire Bowl in Charlotte against a 5th place acc team
After losing the only 2 meaningful games we had And making Randy Edsall an UConn dancing legend

- Petersen Sports Complex
- Pitt Football going from a bottom feeder playing in front of 15k people to averaging 60k a game in 2003 and putting out a good product
- Pitt basketball going from a bottom feeder to back to back Sweet 16’s

These 3 things happened under his watch during his first tenure and he deserves credit.

I don't know what was worst with Steve? The logo change? The "Pittsburgh" not "Pitt" change? The uniform colors change? Demolishing Pitt Stadium and not reserving the space? Moving to HF? Lying and saying there were fewer season tickets sold then there actually were at Pitt Stadium? Being petty with Wannstedt, and not replacing the carpet at the practice facility? Letting the optics occur of Dave's final press conference? Hiring Haymaker? Hiring Fraud? Hiring Callahan at Nebraska? I mean, there were are A LOT of Eff Ups with him.

No doubt, we went from one version of mediocre to a different version of it
I would have liked to see Wanny get another two years, I think he had his defensive system in a good place, if only he could have brought in one of the best young OC's on the market ........come to think of it, it seems frightening similar to Pitt's current situation....

Well, thanks for the recap. Peak Wanny was 27 wins in 3 seasons.

Now may I remind you that the last decade netted this:

4 coaching changes. And two were national embarrassments.
Only two bowl wins and those against MAC teams.
4 losing seasons and only one season over eight wins.
Bad losses a plenty. I'll highlight Youngstown state, the Houston bowl debacle, and of course, Western Michigan just to name a few. And there most certainly are others.
Mediocre recruiting if you use stars or offers as criteria.
I could go on but what is the point.

So, a whole lot of bad there, and any observer who would call that mediocre is just not being honest.

May I also remind you Nostradamus that you also proclaimed at the time better days were ahead and to enjoy the ride. Didn't age well did it?

Yup. That makes for a fun “what if” discussion. Does Pitt end up in the Big 12? If so, do Mr. and Mrs. HTP725 become the official road game tailgate party leaders?

Don't care what your record book says.

I don't keep a record book. The school does. And several outside sources do. They all say the same thing, that Wanny won 26 games his last three seasons. The fact that you are so desperate to give him credit for wins that he didn't not actually achieve says all anyone needs to know about his "accomplishments".

Which strangely enough is as only 1 more games as walt Harris over 3 years - and Seneca doesn’t long for him.

still disgusted to my stomach that our clown chancellor gave that POS a 2 million dollar retirement bonus from the university's money for absolutely nothing. how that even happened is beyond me.

Wanny would have had to go 0-12 and then 1-11 to equal Steve's incompetence of Dave's firing, and the hiring of Haymaker and Fraud.

I've stated my position before with respect to the 27th win. Simply stated, Wanny much more deserves credit for the win than a guy who did nothing more than pace the sidelines. You and the record books are free to posit otherwise. What is not subject to debate is that the program won 27 times over three seasons. And that is more than what followed.

Funny, I post a sobering list of decade-long bad football, and you and Joe only focus on one win in particular. Smells like desperation to me

Just makes me appreciate where the athletic department is today a little more. By no means would I call it perfect but at least it isn't a complete embarrassment.

Yes. And it wasn't difficult, either. Just give the fans a little something and stop with the complete embarrassments. We wanted the script back and the unique colors. It wasn't hard, except SP refused to listen. The football program is stable.

There was no decade long bad football - unless you’re including 4 of 6 years under wanny in that list

Your opinion on the 27th win is not reality .
Wanny chose to NOT coach that game - so no it’s not his win

The only desperation is your devotion to a mediocre coach who bad mouthed pitt

The script returned under Steve
And you still don’t attend games

wasnt it Steve who first got rid of the script? if he brought it back, well he at least deserves some credit for finding the error of his ways and correcting a pretty big F up on his part. even if it took him 20 years to do it..

He got rid of script. He got rid of pitt he brought in torch cut Pittsburgh as a tribute to the years he spent working At carrie blast furnace. ( ok that happened to me l

You have to remember that in the early 90s the brand was tainted terribly
And yes as crazy it seems the designer also did the X-box and jump man logo

It was a mess for sure but better than the Dino seal reboot

You are entitled to your own opinion, as misguided as it is. You are not, however, entitled to your own facts.

I know that that doesn't seem right to you, but it is none the less true.
