with getting the win last night and being already at 1 more ACC win than last season! We appear to be on track to get over the 0.500 hump and have a winning season overall. It at is an improvement over last season and I have not been expecting more than that this season.

The only thing that is frustrating is the inconsistency from one game to the next. Almost beat a top 20 team one night and then struggle mightily with an ACC bottom dweller. But, I guess that is to be expected with a mostly youthful bunch carrying the load.

Although I try to avoid the immediacy bias caused by focusing on a single game--the most recent game--still, last night's result makes me wonder if we really will find 3-4 more wins the rest of the way to the ACC Tourney and get over the hump to a winning season. Last night's result leaves me somewhat uncertain about that potential outcome.

However, FWIW, yesterday's result hardly moved the needle of Sagarin's computer which still forecasts Pitt this way---

(1) Favored at Home vs Miami (by 4), GA Tech (by 4.5), Clemson (by 2), Virginia (by 1) and

(2) Even vs Syracuse at the Pete and

(3) Underdog Away vs Syracuse (by 6.5), Duke (by 14), N. Dame by 4.5), VA Tech (by 5), FSU (by12), NC State (by 7) and GA Tech (by 2).

So, I guess, we should still be able to find 3-4 more wins probably losing a couple we are favored to win and winning a couple we are favored to lose. I do believe the ceiling is an NIT bid unless we win or finish runner up in the ACC Tourney--especially given how down the ACC is this season.

ESPN also forecasts 4-5 wins.

Fingers crossed the rest of the way!

Forget the inconsistency from game to game, this team has been wildly inconsistent from half to half in games. If they can figure out how to handle the last 3 to 4 minutes of the game, I would not remove the NCAAT as a possible ceiling.
