Has anyone had more transfers than us?

Not rhetorical, serious question. Is there a database out there that ranks schools by (outgoing) transfers? Tried looking but couldn’t find one. I’d have to imagine we’re near the top over the past five seasons.

Actually, Pitt isn't even close. According to VerbalCommits, Pitt has five transfers at the moment. There are numerous programs which have six or more players transferring. Alabama State has eleven players leaving via the portal. Of course, it's still early. Per VC, there are 741 players in the portal now, which is still lower than the pre 2021 numbers. Last year, there were over 1,700 portal entries. FWIW, I think that last year nearly everyone at Georgia left (nine in the portal), and I think there weren't that many left at Iowa State, either (seven transfers on top of grads).

Yep. This is pretty standard stuff. Every program is going to lose 3-5 players every year. When you start losing more than that, it makes you wonder.

We’ll Jeff can’t even keep his top 5 on the weakest roster in the conf in yr 5.

Thank you, this was the type of stuff I was looking for. Is there a way to view team transfers over a certain timespan? Wanted to see where we stood since 2017.

Yes. You can go to the VerbalCommits.com website. In the toolbar at the top of the page, click "Transfers". Scroll down past the recent transfers to the "Complete Transfer List". Then, go to the header labeled "Previous School", and click it. That will arrange all the transfers by school, alphabetically. Once you're on that page, there is a toolbar at the top which allows you to select the year. I hope this helps.

Actually, I'd put the number closer to 2 to 3, but I also think that that number is less significant than from where the transfers come on the depth chart. If, after two years in the program, a player is still sitting at the end of the bench, the transfer is probably a positive for both the team and the player. He gets to go to a school where he might get some playing time and the program gets to use his scholarship on someone else. If a player is firmly established in the playing rotation and transfers, that suggest different issues.

And what happened to the coaches at Iowa State and Georgia?
