Has Derrick Davis landed somewhere?

In spite of being deemed a future 5-star recruit when he was a high school freshman, it doesn't appear that the world is banging down his door. His first round of recruiting was weird, and this episode is also not like a lot of the others given his prior ranking.

We were looking at him as a running back. I watched his carries against UAB and came away largely unimpressed. Runs stiff and upright. Pass. Sorry - We're not Second Chance U for all the WPIAL guys who passed us over the first time. Next.

Agree with the assessment going forward. Safety at Pitt. Watch Hammond’s hips and this guy’s.

I don't even know if he changes directions well enough to be a safety. He might... I'm no expert. But I think we liked him at linebacker before. Plus we should be okay at safety, between McIntyre, O'Brien, Battle, McMillon, etc. I mean, I'm sure there will be growing pains. But it's at least something to work with.

I do think we need a transfer running back this year. But I probably wouldn't want it to go to a project player.

Haven't heard a thing about him ,and to be honest if he wants to play rb only I'd pass to me he looks no different than Daniel Carter now if he wants to play LB then I'd take him

Carter is a lot bigger. Davis is about 6 foot 205lbs.

Yeah, they're not really the same styles (Davis is more of a straight-line speed guy), but as far as depending on either to be heavily-involved in the RB rotation next year... eh. I like Carter as a FB, and then I'd rather go out and find a different halfback. If we had Izzy and Hammond ahead of him, sure... go take a chance on Davis. But I kind of see Hammond as a 1A type of guy rather than a 20+ carry/game workhorse. So I'd like to find a guy to complement him and then let C'Bo be the change of pace back.

My preference would be a good, proven RB out of the portal. I’d prefer Davis as an OLB. Add a little weight and I could see him along the lines of Phil Campbell.
