too hard to ascertain for a point in time....I still do not believe Pitt has beaten two top ten teams until the season ends...Texas has beaten two top ten teams this year but alas neither is there anymore...I looked through the archives and I don't think it's happened.

On the other hand if those teams were ranked there when Pitt beat them that says something to. Things change as seasons progress.Correct. The true measure of whether you've beaten a top 10 team is where they finish at the end of the season.
In 1989 we beat #10 Syracuse and tied #9 WVU. Neither team finished in the top 25.
1976?....ND/psu/UGA??On the other hand if those teams were ranked there when Pitt beat them that says something to. Things change as seasons progress.
I say if the team was ranked when we played them but not at the end, count it.
And if the team wasn't ranked when we played them but were ranked later, count it. But I may be biased.
Penn State will be ranked until they get absolutely crushed in their Bowl game against an actual opponent, not Big 10 bottom feeders.Yeah, I'd wait until the end of the year. Although it is looking more and more like these two teams will finish in the top 10.

Thanks for the memories( wasn't that a Dean Martin song) and good info.Nope. Notre Dame was ranked 11 in the preseason when we played them in the first game of the year. And if you are going by where they ended the season then actually ended up 12th. The week before we beat the nitters they were ranked 16 and they were unranked in the final AP poll. Georgia was number 5 when we beat them and ended up 10th in the final poll.
