2 examples were named. Take the worst loss in Pantherlair history and slink away now

What the eff are you talking about? They didn't fit the criteria I was very specific about. And the criteria is critically important because it shows that AD's do not fire their own hires with that many years left without hires.

Another L for you. Keep trying. You'll win one someday.

Honest to god, this went down as the worst L in PL history and you still can’t take the L. Dude, just say you were wrong, AGAIN

So what’s the worst case and best case scenario of retaining JC another season ….

Worst case ….another losing season and maybe another 500 season ticket holders bail .

Best case … he lands a few guys in the portal who step in and help and signs a couple HS kids and wins a few more games

One scenario cost the university an additional 8-10 million over the next 5 yrs while the other costs them 500 season ticket holders .

For all you rocket scientists out there which one sounds more appealing to Heather and her bosses ?

Ps … whomever they’d replace JC with isn’t going to sell enough tickets to cover the yearly buyout , how much is winning a few more games worth ?
Ps2… I think a change is called for I just don’t think it’s going to happen this yr .

LOL. You are smarter than this.

Lets just throw out any random name that didn't fit my criteria

Rick Pitino
Roy Williams
Sean Miller
John Wooden
Ralph Willard
Danny Manning

All of those coaches would answer my question according to you.

You can't read and lost. Take it like a man.

sadly, i do too. 5+ year extension is an absolute killer.. the only way i'd be onboard with Capel is if he:

got Hugley to come back
had at least two good high school recruits lined up for '22
had at least two ready to play tranfers coming in (PG and forward)
had some good early indications of being on a few good '23 recruits.

i dont think any of these will happen. Maybe, best case, we get lucky on some low level transfers coming in..

Turgeon fit your “criteria”. There’s nothing worse than when someone throws out a ridiculous question, gets multiple answers to that question and then says YEAH BUT.

you’re the worst kind of person and know nothing about college hoops. Least knowledgeable on the site

Bingo. Heather made a huge mistake and has to hope and pray he can pull a Wake or Miami.

There are scenarios though where he can be fired:

1. Several good players transfer
2. We go 3-17 with mostly embarrassing blowouts

This was my question: Try to read it very slowly or have your mom:

"BTW, you're probably a good person to ask this: has there ever been an AD who has fired their own hire with 5+ years on a contract without cause or scandal? Would Heather really be the first? I cant think of any with that many years left."

Now google who hired Mark Turgeon. You aren't going to like it.

Who was the President? Who were the boosters? Much more important than the AD who come and go. Jamie had 17 ADs in his time at Pitt.

I’m being serious when I ask this and it comes from the entire board:
Do you know ANYTHING about college hoops? Anything. A thing?

Do you want me to change my question to fit your own criteria? I didn't ask who the President was. The AD has the most say in a coaching search and its A LOT easier for a new AD to fire a coach with 5+ years left than for the hiring AD to do so. Like I said, I'm not sure its ever happened. If you dig long enough, maybe you find 1-2 examples.

The AD has most say in a coaching change? I guess you missed the meeting between boosters and Gallagher right around the time Jamie was leaving. You’re literally clueless

So lets assume Heather can pull the plug sooner rather than later.
Unless things have changed since Capel was hired there were no splash names being tossed around back then.
I see big names getting thrown out there but what has changed to make them want the Pitt job.
We all think this is a great job but not sure the rest of the BB world does.
Might be a new up and comer that was not there before but who knows.

As much as I think your position yesterday was off the rails you’re correct here. Neither fit your criteria.

May be some other valid points but so far nobody’s come up with what you asked about.

And both of those conditions have a much better than even chance of happening. It all depends on your definition of "good". Other than Gueye, we really don't have a level of player that can be called good in the ACC. And Gueye will be done this year. But if you look at players like Hugley or Odukale, yes they could transfer and some others might also.

Ahhh yes, no coach has ever been fired after a public "vote of confidence" by their boss. That never happens. What do people expect her to say? "Look Jeff Capel's extension has been my biggest mistake and the program under him has never gotten better and with all of the off the court issues along with the losses and bottom conference finishes, we just can't wait for the season to end to fire his ass."

Ya think that is what she should say? I understand in this new Trumpian world that became more normal, but it is not nor should ever happen.

Really? I will wait for an article rather than a tweet.

But really?

After reading more, depressed
Why? When asked if her patience with Narduzzi is an example that should be followed, she said no two situations are alike. Sounds like she doesn't have the same amount of confidence in Capel. I wouldn't expect her to give away much more than that.
