Hendrix ?

Is the thought that this will set him up for a medical redshirt? It sounds like that he may be that good that if he has a solid year next year he is gone anyway...

Levance Fields broke his foot, had surgery and was back in 6 weeks. If Hendrix broke his foot on Sep 3, I dont see how he would be out for the year. He sat out a year after transferring so he isnt eligible for a medical RS.

This is a good point, because obviously all broken feet are exactly the same and take exactly the same amount of time to heal.

It's always good to compare the job requirements of a 260 pound defensive lineman that has to slam in to a 300 pound O lineman and get stepped on by people wearing cleats as well.

It can take 6-12. And i think he would be eligible to apply medical hardship similar to Price if he wants it.

Tough crowd was ready for ya. LOL.

Well he can certainly apply, but he would almost certainly not get one. Price missed two seasons because he was injured twice. Hendrix missed a year because he transferred. That makes all the difference in the world to the NCAA. The NCAA looks at it as a "voluntary" redshirt was a choice that the player and/or the school made knowing that they only have five years to play four, whereas being injured twice isn't a choice.

LMAO. There are 26 bones in the foot and a whole bunch of different kinds of fractures Dr. SMF. Not all "broken feet" are the same.

Until you're finished with med school, keep your day job.

Correct, would have the option still possibly. Come back bowl game, no.

OK guys, take it easy on our boy SMF, He wants him back asap, just like the rest of us.. from past posts though, that medical hardship/6th year deal that Price got is much harder now, much moreso than before when Price got it.. I think it's quite a longshot to expect Hendrix to get another year. Of course the NCAA is all over the place so guess you never know for sure..

Seeing as to how Price just got his sixth year approved literally in the last six months or so I'm not sure what exactly when you think is the "now" as opposed to the "before".

It's not harder to get a sixth year for people who have had two serious, season ending injuries like Price did. And it really isn't all that much harder for guys like Hendrix who missed one year either for transferring or just because they sat out a season, because the NCAA has pretty much never given guys like that a sixth year. There has to be some extenuating circumstances for a sixth year. Transferring generally isn't one of them. Sitting out because the coaches decide you aren't ready to play isn't one of them.

Like someone posted above, he wouldn't get a 6th year because his initial redshirt was due to transfer not injury unlike Price.

I think you're thinking of some changes making it harder for immediate eligibility for some transfers that they made.

Because all foot injuries are identical, right?
