We've spent a lot of time talking about the preseason projections for Pitt and how they don't seem very optimistic about the team's chances. Well, the Sporting News thinks a bit more highly of the Panthers.
In their bowl projections, SN has Pitt playing Oklahoma State in the Camping World Bowl in Orlando. If that's where the Panthers end up, it probably means they had a pretty good season. The overall projections have Clemson in the playoffs and Syracuse in the Orange Bowl (I know, I know). But Pitt is the next selection, which would mean the Sporting News is probably looking for Pitt to win the Coastal again.
It's just a projection - like any other - but at least this one looks favorably upon the Panthers' chances.
