Suck it.
LOL.
What a poor taste in teams. Penn State AND Syracuse lol.A little bonus so to speak is that Penn State fanboy & Altoona media goof ball Cory Giger is a HUGE Syracuse basketball fan. Nice to stick it to a few blowhards.
Oh yeah that's his two favorites! Haven't heard much about Syracuse this year. He's jumped on the ups band wagon though. What a poor taste in teams. Penn State AND Syracuse lol.
Now that's funny!Dunlap tweeted at Filiponi and said he was out with the family and wanted to know the score![]()
Missed the pre-game as I was listening to the Pens leak goals against the Lightening, but I won't be surprised if Poni gives Pitt props on Monday or tomorrow night if he's on the Showdown. Thing is, it doesn't change much, Pitt appears to be pretty matchup dependent. Think the two road games to end the regular season are now the make/break games of the season unless they can win one of the two home games.
Even better than knowing Filliponi is at home crying is Cook looking like a moron again. Had an article the other day where he said Jamie is crazy for thinking Pitt's defense was going to get better. Wasn't completely wrong about Pitt in the article, but this guy would criticize Pitt if they were undefeated. That's why Jamie is making millions coaching a D1 team and Ron Cook is fat loser who's proudest moment in life was buying Tom Bradley a beer.
Yes - Andrew and Ron Cook are on 93.7 from 10-2. My only beef with Filliponi was when he used to do the pregame hoops coverage and would openly mock Pitt. It's one thing when you do it on your show, quite another for those tuned into our flagship station for a pregame and would have to hear it. He has since been bounced from that. Even though it makes me a bit uncomfortable (I thought sports broadcasters keep their personal allegiances private?), I can see where openly rooting for your alma mater for "entertainment" could be acceptable. It's when he used to do it during PITT broadcasts that it stepped over the line IMHO. Ron Cook frequently points out how his first born will be named "Boeheim".Well, living in eastern PA I don't know who Filliponi is. I gather from this thread that he's a Pittsburgh
sports announcer of some sort. Also, from previous threads many posters seem to dislike not only
Filliponi but I guess other announcers as well (for their anti Pitt bias). Ron Cook, I am familiar with
because his articles can be read on line. BTW, even from over on this end of the state his anti Pitt
rantings are fairly obvious IMO.
The last segment of their show on Friday was about this game and how he was rooting for Syracuse. Maybe it's me, but when I listen to national sports talk radio, I rarely hear any of the announcers waxing poetic regarding their alma maters. And when you winnow it down to something more regional, usually programs are based around the teams relevant to that area and normally, in a POSITIVE way. It's about knowing your audience, right? It would be like 93.7 putting a guy out there who openly mocked the Steeler's or the Penguin's. They'd never last. Regardless, I love seeing Filliponi having to squirm because Pitt has dominated his Orange for the last 12 years, hence the suck it comment. What did he say?

big marty - I'm with you on this one. Like listening to PZ. Only listen to the other programs for short stretches, like if I'm in the car - or I'll listen if they are talking Pitt. The only credible voices are Pompiani and Ziese.
All the others are generalists who don't know the game. I only now listen to Bob and Paul.
I listened to Pomps show briefly and Zeise (driving and a half hour away from Syria accused) calmly predicted a Pitt win.The only credible voices are Pompiani and Ziese.

I just read one of those online gossip deals....25 athletes who are really creeps was the title. Ben and Vick were in the top 5. FWIW.big marty - I'm with you on this one. Like listening to PZ. Was listening on Friday and apparently Poni had contacted Syracuse to try to get Jim Boeheim to do an interview on their show. Cook was on Poni because Syracuse hadn't even made a reply to Poni... What I can't take about Cook is his absolute worship of certain sports figures - e.g., he was totally taken in by "the great" Paterno; he gushes over Ben Roethisberger - I just find it kind of creepy.
Go Pitt.
KDKA is the Pirates and no one there is going to do much other than be in the tank for them, And almost no one anywhere is going to take on Mario and the Rooneys...The last segment of their show on Friday was about this game and how he was rooting for Syracuse. LOL.
Madden who I really like has him on regularly and the station cannot be changed fast enough..I saw Stan on TV the other day. His face reminded me of the portraits of aged Native Americans, sans the feather. His facial lines are plentiful and run deep.
And highly unattractive.
Other than that, he looks good.

That would be fine if he was doing the Syracuse pre-game show. Orange fandom certainly has NO pace on a Pitt pre-game show. This show is for Pitt fans and faithful, it is there solely to gin up interest and provide up to the date information on PItt to the faithful. Not many fans of other programs are going to be tuning in!Maybe I'm in the minority, but I don't mind him being overt in his fandom. Plenty of national radio folk have ongoing shticks that deal with their rooting interests. As long as they are open about it, I don't mind.
