Hey Griese

Hey Brian, yes the one pass interference/holding was a bad call...but Pitt has been on the other end of about 52 of those calls over past two year, it w\as about time we got a call or luck Pitts way.
The holding occurred before the camera was on the play. The incompetent ass should know that.

It may be true but it takes a classless prick to say that on the air during a national broadcast.

Look I'm as big a Pitt fan as anyone but nothing he said offended me one bit if your honest with yourself it's true. We won despite our defense not because of it. Had Clemson not been bone headed and tried running on that last play and either punt or throw to the flat we lose period. They didn't we stopped them and won great win not downplaying it one bit but what Brian Griese said during the game was nothing but the truth.

I agree. I had no problem with what he said.

It wasn't the criticism but the wording. Be honest. When have you ever heard an announcer say someone's "defense makes me sick". Totally classless.

Anyone without complete blind homer glasses should be able to see what he said was nothing but honest analysis I doubt he has any axe to grind with him personally because of his MSU roots. Griese was there a UM what 20 years ago. He tells it as he sees it and I respect that. Not even one ounce offended by that.

when has a defense given up career passing yard records (along with a conference one) to five qbs in a year?...if that does not rise to the level of sickening, nothing does..

That's my point as well what's the reason this isn't sickening

I had no problem with their commentary (wish more announcers were vocal about calls). Them making fun of Narduzzi when he chose not to burn the timeout on 3rd down and used it on the 4th down was a bit over the line IMHO.

I dont mind questioning the D. I did get annoyed towards the end when he kept essentially stating that the refs gave Pitt the game.

In my opinion, what was over the top was when Griese said after Pitt made it 42-40 "Clemson should be up by 14!" A stupid, ridiculous blanket statement given circumstances earlier in the game. There were bad calls both ways, I think evened out in the end.

Agree. And he does a good job as a color man. Never heard him say anything that was inaccurate. I did raise an eyebrow when he said the ease of completing passes was making him sick, but you got the idea throughout the telecast before that comment that he wanted to grab a headset and start calling our coverages. He could have chosen better words but I get it. He couldn't believe that with Pitt's corners getting a record de-pantsing Doozi just flat refused to change the coverage and get the safeties more involved, and neither could I. Maddox and Lewis are children playing a man's game out there.

The pass defense was at its level worst today-the opposing QB just set the all time conference record for yardage in a game for chrissakes. Fortunately, Dabo and Watson made some mistakes, Saleem Brightwell made the defensive play of the season for Pitt, our offense sputtered down the stretch but in the end did what it needed to do, and we got some big time help from the refs in that 4th quarter. And it's true, it was nice to be on the good end of some bad officiating.

He was wrong for what he said and how he said it. His analysis was one sided and that's not what you get paid to do you are supposed to be unbiased and call a neutral game.
And I am a bug panther fan, wear homer glasses and I'm happy for the win and proud of Pitt.
Those of you who are still complaining about the defense and agree with greise are not true fanes no matter what you say, because a true fan always sees the positive for their team THATS WHy THEY ARE A FANATIC (fan for short).
If you feel otherwise take phpanther1 advice and join greise.

yeah, I would think those that call others not real fans for complaining about a terrible defense are not real fans...Hey, this is fun... gee, I wish I knew when I was sitting in a snowstorm watching Elliot Walker come up short on a 2pt conversion against the nits back in 77' that should I complain I would lose fan status, I would have just stayed home in my nice warm house...

Let's break this down--so you believe the job of a color man on a national college football telecast is not to be critical of what he's seeing? You think it's one-sided or biased for him to criticize either team for things he sees, with his own expert eye, that deserve criticism? You think he should not have commented to viewers on how and why Pitt's D was allowing Deshaun Watson to complete every pass he throws and set the all-time ACC yardage record?

I think maybe you don't understand the job of a TV color analyst. That's his job--that;s what he gets paid to do.

Exactly. Ya know what makes me "sicker" than Pitt's defense? Losing.

Who felt "healthier" after that game - Pitt fans or Clemson fans?

In one way, Pitt did Clemson a favor: they exposed Clemson's weaknesses on defense. No one has shredded Clemson's defense the way that Pitt did. No one scored a first-quarter TD against them all year -- but setting the tone for the game, Pitt got two.

It doesn't make you sick?

Am I paid by a national network to give an unbiased opinion of 2 teams? He's supposed to be a professional and that comment was anything but.

Why didn't he comment about how Clemson's defense made him feel? Pitt went up and down the field on them at will.

Pitt moved the ball very well. Watson set an ACC record for passing yards. I was sick watching that game too up until the interception. We give our offense zero room for error and they have kept us in every game.
