One minute you want Capel to get another year. They next minute, you bitch that Pitt BB doesn't run a recognizable offense. Well, many Pitt fans don't want the carcass of the BB program twisting in the wind for another year. Your Twitter account should be revoked.

Did he go and put his foot in his mouth again?

He's op ed columnist and radio host. He is not a decision maker. Why do you people obsess over what media folks say so much? They are just like we are.

Because he sounds like the village idiot when he wants to give Capel another year and is critical of his coaching on the same day. Plus, I'm not obsessed, just pointing out the he is on a low rung on the ladder of intelligence.

But Zeiss has a grilled cheese sandwich named after him at Archies on the south side so he must know what he’s talking about

How many AAH’s did he say in that minute?

He can criticize the coaching but also hold the opinion that bringing Capel back another year is the best thing for the program right now. Both are possible.

And here is the thing, he’s Pitt friendly in a town where most in the media are not. Yet, half the people here don’t like him because even though he has some crazy political takes himself, he exposes all the crazy political takes that they support. And they can’t handle that.

but you’re right, he’s no different than any of us. And he’s likely here reading these threads just like us. But he is more like us than anyone in the media outside Richie Walsh.

Absolutely, many of us PITT fans are deservingly critical of Capel in year 4. No matter how much I want him to go, I want what is best for PITT more. At this point I can’t tell if PITT should build on this small momentum or take a chance of starting over with someone who could be better, or like KS be worse. There are valid points on both sides

My dislike of him has nothing to do with his politics or weather he is fair or not to Pitt. He is a columnist so he is paid to write his opinion for the PG. He is also part of the sports radio talk show host genre of the last 15 years that just go on the air and spew opinion laced vomit for 3 hours with nothing substantial or interesting about a team or upcoming game. I grew up listening to Cope/Saverin etc during the early days of talk radio and I learned a lot about sports because these guys did their homework and prepared for their gigs and had great interviews on air all the time. Zeise does nothing like that. He is lazy, doesn't do any research and rarely has interesting interviews. The last sports talk person that was interesting to listen to was Joe Bendel.

Bendel was black balled by old man Rooney for standing up to Ryan Clark .
I never really knew what happened to him. I thought the station he was on did away with sports talk but can't remember for sure but was very surprised that someone else didn't pick him up. But maybe he just had enough and didn't want to be in radio anymore. I really miss him. He was especially great to listen to during college bball season as he had a lot of interesting guests on.

He’s a terrible writer with terrible opinions .
How can you have "terrible opinions" ? Opinions are just that. You may disagree, they may even be proven wrong, but that is what opinions are. I think some tend to allow politics to qualify or disqualify a person and their abilities. That is not exactly embracing diversity.

I mean I completely disagree with his vaccination and covid takes, I think they are Neanderthal like, and his "fun and exciting" comment in regards to Stallings offense might have meant for the other team, but still that is what op/ed guys do. They give their takes or sometimes controversial takes to generate discussion.

Simple -
He only posts obvious and cliche things / no actual knowledge or insights

i don’t know what his politics are and don’t care -
He sucks at writing and talking about sports

It’s very easy to have terrible opinions and you know it.

Bendel and Greg Linelli (and even Poni) were great during the Pitt basketball heyday. All were huge college basketball fans and in the case of Bendel and Linelli, huge Pitt fans. Those guys were part of the "experience" for me during those great years. Never knew what happened to Bendel and Linelli

FK, he's not pitt friendly at all, not in the least. i dont know why people say this. i know his son played here and you'd think so but it's not the case at all. the guy is not even neutral when it comes to pitt football or hoops program..

When we agree on a topic -
That’s pretty much consensus

He’s objective. No different than many of us.

Objective would mean giving some insight to back an opinion .
Case in point - you’re objective about Tomlin
I was objective about how Dixon’s defense sagging off shooters and inability to generate live ball turnovers drove me nuts .

Zeise is a cliche machine .
He’s the drunk uncle yelling at the tv regardless of what’s actually happening because he’ thinks he’s smart , but he’s repeating boring catch phrases to pretend he’s insightful

Fair enough. I just know that if I want to hear someone talking about Pitt athletics on the radio, he’s the guy and he’s often the only guy. The other shows and hosts might throw in a token Pitt segment every now and again. But his show is often Pitt heavy. And when I listen, I’m almost never offended.

I’ll take your word for it
I won’t listen to sports talk radio

It’s not often that I do either. The other night I had a significant drive and I thought that I’d listen to Zeise. I forgot it was Thursday, so Zeise wasn’t on at the time because it was the Jeff Capel show. Man it was good. I love listening to JC, then Wannamaker was on and he might be my favorite ex player. Then Burton was on and I was thoroughly impressed with him. It was a great hour of radio.

When we (Pitt) lost Joe we lost the most positive beat writer we ever had. I see him every now and then a couple south side bars. He’s a great guy.
