The Mountaineers are undefeated....and in a very weak Big 12 this year could run the table. Whether or not they do, we owe apologies to Holgy and ESPECIALLY Gibson because the 2 guys have proven to be very good coaches. Gibson has one of the best defenses in the country when most people on here didn't think he was qualified to be an equipment manager.

I for one thought little of Gibson's ethics and his coaching ability based on his past reputation. I am surprised by their improvement so far.

What improvement? They beat 2-4 Missouri. Youngstown State. A mediocre BYU by 3. A mediocre KSU by 1. And a mediocre Texas Tech team.

They will likely lose to TCU, OSU, Texas, Oklahoma and Baylor. They should beat Iowa State and Kansas and finish 7-5.

H2P would you like to put a little wager on the Tcu game this Saturday? In all honesty Wvu hasn't beat a good team yet and maybe they won't.But like I always said"Hey I only play the teams the AD scheduled".That aside Gibbys defense has surprised me this year, way better than I expected!I actually think Bradley help him in preparation and in game coavhing while he was there.Holgy has been a better HC too,too bad he's slowly learned this,he wasn't a very Good HC up to this point.I'm looking for 9-3 which will save Holgy job,I think????

Yep. Hey give them credit. They lost Karl Joseph (14th overall) and Darryl Worley (3rd rd) and that Kwiatkowski LB in the 4th rd, and another DB in the 5th rd of the NFL draft this past season. Then lost Davon Henry this offseason to injury. And their defense is really playing well.

I'd take Gibson as Defensive Coordinator in a heart beat. Hell, Holgy may be coaching himself out of WVU to a bigger job.

Didn't I read somewhere that TT had the #1 pass offense in the country going into last weekend's game?

Actually it was wvu fans coming on here telling us Gibson stunk.
The defense actually was pretty good once Graham and staff made adjustments after the Iowa game.

I was going to say the reports of Holgys demise on the Lair have been greatly exaggerated. But then SMF has just unleashed his kiss of death by saying they could run the table.....see what happened to them in 2012......so who knows.

Ha. I would never bet on a big 12 team. Anything can happen there. But I still stand by what I said... WVU has not proven anything and I fully expect them to go into the tank starting this weekend.

Well, they're 3-3 and haven't really played anybody decent either, so their passing game can't be that good.

maybe so, but I think I read that TT's QB had some type of arm/shoulder injury that limited his motion; I did NOT watch the game at all, so I'm only going on what I read

Good or bad it's amazing how wvu has dropped off the face of the earth media-wise in Pittsburgh but I guess that could change this year if they keep winning. I expect them to beat TCU.

I also expect them to beat TCU. TCU doesn't look nearly as strong ad they have recently And even though I hate the hoopies, I really liked the away uniforms they wore at TT.

Again, you can hate on them all you want, imagine if Pitt lost 3 of 4 DB's to the NFL draft (high picks) and their top LB, and the only returning DB starter then blows out his knee? Imagine the excuses here if teams would put up 40 points and 400 yards per game.

Well....WVU is shutting down people. So you have to respect the job Gibson is doing. Maybe he can share some secrets with Narduzzi the next time we play OK State.

Holgorsen hasn't proven squat. He's had one good year - 2011 when he took over Bill Stewart's team and had Geno Smith as junior. He was 10-3. Since then, he's 7-6, 4-8, 7-6, and 8-5.

He is not well loved in WV. He does dumb sh*t like won't wear school colors. He practically drools over OSU, OU, and several of the Texas schools. IF - and I'm not convinced he won't - he doesn't blow up again this year down the stretch, I would look for him to move on to an open job elsewhere. If he DOES blow up and end with another mediocre record, I wouldn't be surprised if he was asked to go.

WVU is having a good year. That said, they're going to lose at least one the rest of the way and the Big 12 isn't going to make the CFP again.

After hearing how WVU delivers the Pittsburgh market for so long - good luck finding coverage of them locally, even with the high numbers of safety school alumni in the area. And no joke, the pizza guy I see once every three weeks or so always is wearing his WVU hat and t-shirt and I make sure to tip him well because i understand the value of his degree.

And could lose 13-9..

I posted a while back that I think Gundy could be in play, moving Holgy to OSU and maybe open the door for Rich Rod back to WVU. I still think Holgy is the perfect coach for them in the B12 so be careful what you wish for, losing him would not be good.

I don't disagree - I think enough water is under the bridge to make a RR return possible, if he wanted to come back. And I think he's a better coach than Holgorsen. So, as a Pitt man, I wouldn't want to have to continually compete for recruits against a WVU program stronger than it currently is. But, I could see Holgorsen leaving under either scenario of successful season or mediocre season.

Or Holgy to Baylor. And yes, I think if Holgy has a 10 win season, he will go to Baylor, and Rich Rod will come home.

The people down here think Rich Rods home is in Ann Arbor,Michigan!!!So I guess they hope he goes home!

H2P like I said before no way TCU beats Wvu this weekend in Morgantown! Why do all you Pitters want them to lose,I hope they go 12-0 this year and go to the playoffs.Just like I hope Pitt goes 11-1 the next 3 years.I guess it's call jealousy,Im glad Ive never been the jealous type and just enjoy watching good football. That might be 8-4 at the end but 6-0 after this weekend.

Rich Rod is a non-starter at WVU. That ship has sailed. Have you seen what he's been doing at Arizona? He might actually get canned again.

I'm biased, but personally I think this is the best WVU team since 2007. We don't have as much top end talent (White, Slaton), but we do have more depth. Does that guarantee 9-10 wins? Definitely not. But it will interesting to see what happens. I expect a close game with TCU this weekend. They typically perform well after a bye week under Patterson.

How's my buddy Bob doing? I occasionally say "hey" over Twitter to him.

True Story.....I was having a drink at a Morgantown bar with Hertzel when he got the call that Pat White was turning down baseball and committing to WVU.

Cal what was Pitt's record in 2007,I forgot?Half the people in Mo-town think Rich Rod blew the game on purpose,he isn't coming back people.

Who cares what our record was--on your home field at night as 28 point underdogs we ruined your chance at a National Championship. 13-9 lives forever!

Cal what do you mean my home field? My home field is Adamson Stadium California,Pa.I'd much rather have a decent record instead of bragging about one of my few wins!
