He spent a few years as WR, RB and even recruiting coordinator for Virginia Hampton, Northern Illnois, WVU, Vanderbilt, University of Illinois, Wisconsin and Virginia. He was co-offensive coordinator at Maryland. He is a recruiting machine and elevating to OC coordinator status could have a major impact on offensive recruiting. naybe he can be a co-offensive coordinator with Whipple next year in charge of running side since he has background as running back coach. He could be groomed as a full time replacement for Whipple and this could keep him on staff.

I would then evaluate Borbely's status. We need to match the defensive line recruiting where we are bringing in national level recruits.

NO!
Illinois was 2-10 and averaged less than 12 points per game in Big 10 play when he was Co-OC.

I wonder what kind of offense he would run? He has some experience. As a Co-OC he didn't call all the plays. I'm thinking recruiting would definitely improve on that side of the ball

The DL was built without National level recruits. Camp & Hays are the only 4-stars.

We need the same thing with the new OL coach - a great teacher & talent evaluater.

Have you seen how his receivers are performing outside of Addison? This will be our second year in a row leading the nation in drops. The only reason people aren't calling for his head is he is our best recruiter. No thanks.

Drops are the coach's fault? There isn't a ton of talent there but the guys are open. They block. You're going to lose him if you don't pay him and Pitt can't afford to lose his recruiting. He'd be my first choice to elevate from within.

What is he doing to stop the drops problem? Drops are a byproduct of a lack of focus and ability. I trust that the WR’s are able. So, the focus has to be on the coach

interesting topic. is the "Drops" something a coach can fix? Man, i dont know. i mean it's reps, it's practice, it's concentration, it's talent. i think we are getting talented Wrs, i cant imagine we are doing anything differently in practices and camps that make these guys all of a sudden drop more balls.

Im sure there are drills or maybe a bigger focus on "catching it" like i do with my 8 year old son when catching baseball but that's stuff that these guys have already learned and should be past that level.

What drills to WR's run to improve focus? What is Larry Fitzgerald's secret and why isn't he selling this technique? Or is this one of those things where the coach lights some incense in the meeting room and they talk about how the football is their friend? If the kids are "able", as you suggest, what is the coach doing to make them "less able"?

Of course there are some minor things with technique. Heck, you can coach speed, too, but if someone can't run faster than a 4.6, there isn't any amount of coaching in the world that helps. Talent is the problem. I don't know how that isn't the obvious answer.

Normally I would agree with you but he sets the depth chart. I would start all freshmen if the can catch. The older guys keep letting you down. I don't care how open you are if we had a non apologist head coach he would be comfortable benching their behinds. You are on scholarship to catch the ball! You can't do that when we need you to then sit down next to me and watch the game. It is shocking guys haven't been benched yet.

If he recruits on the offensive side of the ball - outside of Addison - exactly who is any good? The lack of talent is just breath taking. Vincent Davis?? Does anyone think he could start at a MAC school? He can't block, he has no vision, mediocre hands and goes down by arm tackle. Of course... Pitt has no back w/ any vision so that must be a job requirement. What they have on identifying talent on the defensive side of the ball... just doesn't exist at all for the offense.

I see missed assignments on multiple plays during a series and it usually takes a great play to bail them out. And these are fundamental mistakes. High school mistakes. The entire offensive coaching staff is complicit.

I agree with you. If we’re going to blame coaches, Narduzzi might be the one to blame. But, I just hope that Beatty is in there fighting for the young guys so they do eventually get their shot.
