You always see teams with foreign guys in the lineup that can play, Greeks, Aussies, Lithuanians, Russians, Chinese, etc. We need players, how come we never use the Euro route. Since Donatas Zavackas, we've never tried that route, and that goes back like 12 years.

We did get Steven Adams, but only because Jamie knew his dad, I don't know the workings of recruiting internationals, just wondering why they seem common around the country, but we rarely have any?

I don't know, but I suspect many will have been in country for awhile already. Those outside the country seem to be more difficult to get qualified. Like Diallo is a foreign player, but he has been here for a long time. As was Zanna.

Zanna! My bad, yes he was Nigerian, right? But I did know he had been here for awhile. And forgot we also had a Canadian that was good, can't remember his name, tall white guy, played when we had Aaron Gray, he was like 6-9, but could shoot 3s. Zanna by the way is tearing it up in the D-League I recently read

And you can't count guys like Ronald Ramon, a Puerto Rican from NYC is as American as mom's apple pie!

Levon Kendall, Joe Uchebo, Khem Birch, all non-US. Did UK or Duke have any foreign players?? The really talented Euros go to the NBA. Lots of African guys playing now....most are pretty raw.

We're not Duke or UK, you can't use them as a reason or example to not go looking for foreign players, because they are guaranteed to get the top 10-20 American guys every year, they have no need to even recruit, the players at the top of the McDonald's AA list call them.

I never said we shouldn't go after them. And I think we should look at ANY player, regardless of location. Just wanted to point out that we haven't ignored that arena. Our #1 seeds were all domestic guys. But that shouldn't preclude anyone. If Uchebo had been healthy last season, we make the dance rather easily. We had a successful season the year prior, with Talib at the 5.

I don't know that an infusion of a foreign player who is coming to the states for the first time will work well given the relatively poor results Pitt has via transfers. IMHO, it would be a stretch to get someone in, get them acclimated, and get productive minutes. That being said with options expiring quickly, I cannot dismiss the idea to attempt to improve the quality of the roster.

Kiwi is right. Most foreign born players spend a while in the Stares first to get acclimated and eligible.

We are recruiting both Kassoum Yakwe and Sagata Konate for the '16 class both of whom played this year in the USA.

We can get more Luthers, you know, the type that should be at Gannon.

There is no reason Pitt shouldn't have had the full court press on Georgios Papagiannis. They were on him early, and in February Paul Ziese mentioned he was still interested in Pitt, but now it appears Oregon might be his frontrunner, and have seen he is considering Maryland, Kansas, NC State, and PSU as well. Gottfried went to Greece this week to watch him.

And Greece is one of the top 5 basketball countries in the world, great pro league. their top teams (Olympiacos & Panathinaikos) are to Euro hoops what Man U or Real Madrid are to Euro soccer and their bigs are all fundumentally sound and can shoot lights out from the outside.

Luther needed a red shirt but Pitt was short on players. Since you have no idea what kind of player Luther will turn out to be you should stick to the ass clown posts you normally give us. Oh, that's right, the post I was replying to was one of those.
