Well, it COULD happen, and the Steelers’ fans who are still left by then would blame Tomlin.

Fair question.

And I then have to wonder what the nut huggers will do if he has happy feet and reverse spins his way prematurely into multiple sacks. Likely they’ll blame the Steelers for ruining him.
That's also a fair wondering. It's fair to assume that the Steelers will be better offensively with the addition of Metcalf, but it's very unusual for a team to not have a starting running back and quarterback at this time of year. My guess is Kenny will start, the Steelers will win, but he will look good enough to represent himself well.

It really will depend on whether the refs allow Avocado Toast to get away with DPI all game long or not.
Yeah..because it looks like he would be matched up with Travis Hunter and I don't like that matchup if I'm a Steelers fan.

Travis Hunter has to be one of the more difficult evals of all time. As an all-around college player, he was undoubtedly the best. But is he 2nd overall pick-worthy at either position? I honestly don't know. And I just don't think you can be anything close to an every-down player on both sides of the ball in the NFL.

I mean, it worked out with Charles Woodson of course. Not sure if Hunter is on that level or not at CB, though. Maybe he is.

He cannot be a two way player in the NFL irrespective of his conditioning. But is he 2nd overall pick worthy...I think so. He's pretty dynamic on both sides of the ball but he has some of the best ball skills I've seen at the receiver position since Fitz and Randy Moss.

one thing i know about this upcoming year, the bengals and ravens are not even giving the steelers and browns a 2nd thought. pitt and cleveland will have an epic battle all year long...... for 3rd place and a distant 3rd place in the afc north..

You might be right but the Bengals defense might be historically bad. They were awful last year and might get worse if they don’t hit some gold in the draft.

true but they have Burrow, chase and tee. that is disgusting..
If memory serves me correctly they had them last year too.

Burrow was insanely good last year and they all went home after game 17.

I don’t think the Steelers will be bad enough to be distant 3rd. And I don’t rule out 2nd place really although I certainly wouldn’t bet on it.

I felt the same way until I realized that he is like 2 draft picks in 1. That alone is valuable.

I tend to agree. He's probably WR1 in this draft? He's definitely not DB1. Great athlete, average size. We never really got to see him play a top flight team either. He was out for their game a couple years ago against Oregon when Colorado got annihilated.

It would be if he's legitimately going to play both positions full-time, but there's no way that happens long-term, in my opinion. People thought Woodson would do it, but he hardly logged any snaps on offense. I think they'll work him into some offensive packages at first, before realizing what an insane ask that is at this level and then abandoning the idea altogether.

I was thinking he'd end up on defense, but I admit I haven't kept up with it a ton.

If the rosters only went 25 deep, he might be the most valuable non-quarterback in a long time. But I do wonder if he's getting a little too much of a bump just by virtue of being really good at two positions. Because to go #2 overall, you better be absolutely elite at whichever position is your main focus. And maybe he is; I'm just a little skeptical.

I could be totally wrong on position, but I agree with you. Being good at multiple positions doesn't mean much when we all know he's only playing one. I think he'd be nuts not to go with WR though. Guys at that position get paid well into their mid 30s, meanwhile most DBs are basically out of the league or journeymen on veteran minimum contracts in their late 20s/early 30s.

so a "not so distant third" lol? ok. we will be a "not that distant 3rd" at best.. regardless, there will a season long battle for last place between us and cleveland... may the best team win, or lose i guess.
