opened next year's press conference after the win over PSU (they lose Barkley, Gesicki, Hamilton, and most of their D) saying, "we know last year was their Super Bowl, for us this was just like Albany."
Narduzzi and Franklin's relationship reminds me a ton of Dabo and Spurrier. Frenemies with little jabs at each other. I love it. Rivalries are great.
That would be fine except that Franklin's replacing the D with kids with a lot more potential than the ones leaving (Hansard, Gross-Matos, etc). Until last year their defensive recruiting left a lot to be desired. That's no longer the case.
Their OL has 3 Sophs, 2 of which are in their first full year as starters. Who cares about Hamilton? The guy they have coming next year (Shorter) could start for them TODAY. I'm not saying we can't do it...but it will be a tall order. The Pitt faithful will have to come out in full force to support us next year...and the Duzz will need to do the his best coaching job.
I agree the rivalry is good. Franklin can say its not a rivalry all he wants. They both have to keep the heat on to recruit the WPIAL. Narduzzi and Franklin are good for each other. They'll never be buddies. But they both will have to be at their best to keep ND, OSU, and Michigan from plundering PA.
