Dude had a monster year and led his team to the playoffs. Nothing again Travis Hunter. He is an excellent two way player. But his WR stats are dwarfed by Larry's.

He was arguably the best CB in the nation also and you can make a case he was the best college football player in a generation

Well he was the best player in college football and the voters voted accordingly. You’re welcome.

And if you’re gonna stump for someone you should at least know his name.

Larry should have won the Heisman 20 years ago, but I'm not sure how that's relevant today.

Hunter was one of the best at 2 different positions this year so it's hard to argue against him.

Also, Clint Session is not pleased

How does Tyler Warren get a first place vote?
Or the Indiana QB. Nothing against those two players, but only a complete homer would vote for either one over Jeanty, Hunter, or even Ward. Of course you know that if they revealed the voters it would be some numbskull PSU fan boi writer that voted for Warren.

But was he actually ?
He’s not remotely close to the second best receiver
(He’s 6th in yards and 5th in receptions) he was second in TDs but outside of the top 250 is average yards per reception .
So props to Deion for getting him touches in scoring areas .

He is a very good DB no doubt .

Stats don’t always tell the whole story. The kid might be the number 1 overall pick. He’s a freak.

We can’t necessarily project anything but playing both ways probably means his stats suffer unless you want to run him totally into the ground.

I don’t think his stats suffer at all
He won’t play both ways in the NFL - maybe as a returner along with DB.
He can be a hugely impactful DB- but I don’t see him being as impactful at WR - when every NFL DB is as freakishly athletic as he is .

Myles Jack played both ways at UCLA and never got the Heisman hype .

So the best player is the guy with the best stats?

He played at an elite level on both sides of the ball and almost never came off the field. A strong case could be made that he’s the most deserving Heisman winner of all time.

I'd say he's top 5 at both positions which is pretty impressive. He did win the Biletnikoff and I agree he's a very good DB

I was shocked Geanty was so close. I mean Hunter will go down as one of the greatest college players ever. One of the best in the country on both sides of the ball at a P4. That's crazy. Remember Gordie Lockbaum, finished 5th in the Heisman voting in 1988 for being a dominant 2 way player but that was at Holy Cross in FCS.

I'm good with either Travis or Jeanty, deviates from gifting QB1 of the no. 1 team, undeserving or not... Warren 1st place vote = fully invested pedo...
Fan boi McGonigal had to oblige his fellow pedos and list Warren. At least he had the good sense to list Hunter and Jeanty first.

Because it is never about the "best player", it is about who has been influenced by the media and college coaches the most. Deion Sanders did what he did to get the guy's name out there and then gave him the chance to show his talents on the field. May I add, I would have voted for the Army QB, Bryson Daily. What Daily did was incredible when you think about the fact that every team he played against knew he was the main guy. Despite that he went out and put up some very big numbers all season. Jeanty was a good choice as well.

The best player won it. The end.

That’s the difference between Pedo writers and Pittsburgh writers. The Pedo writers are shameless in their jock sniffing of PSU players. Pittsburgh writers think that being lukewarm toward Pitt gives them a seat at the cool kids table.

Not sure anyone could write a truer post on here.

I mean one guy was a two time first team, one time second team AP All American. And I don't mean over the course of his career. I mean this season.

Of course that guy won it.

Yeah, but everyone knew the dude from Army was the main guy. Whereas everyone else on this list only played against teams whose players agreed to go a thorough pre-game brainwashing process so they would be left guessing if it was Travis Hunter or the long snapper they should be worried about.

Put Boise State in the SEC and Jenty would not even be in the conversation
Who would have thought a good game against a overated B10 team would put this guy in NYC. Stupid af. Hunter is the heisman and it should not have even been as closed as it was

Not sure why previous years matter, but one guy was a unfamous selection.

Also, how is Sauls NOT on any of the top three AP All American teams?

Other years don't matter. That's the point. Hunter was a two time first team, one time second team AP All American THIS year. He was a first team cornerback, a first team all purpose player (ahead of Desmond Reid) and a second team wide receiver on THIS year's team.

And Sauls isn't on the All American teams for the same reason he wasn't first or second team All ACC. There are lots of other really good kickers out there. Some of who didn't miss any field goals all season.

That’s a ridiculous statement. Players played both ways for over 60 years. 1964 was the first season with unlimited substitutions. Most of the first 26 Heisman winners played both ways.
