We were part of the so called crowd for Ala st it was so bad not even the pep band showed up . They piped in pre recorded band music. Dr jack Anderson had to be mortified lol

They routinely do that when the students are on break. Very few band members are there right now.

But I do agree overall....even in conference games, the atmosphere at The Pete is more like a morgue than a college basketball arena. It's far from what we used to have back in the Howland/Dixon days. But what would you expect with the product we've seen on the floor the past 6 years?

Plus, a Sunday afternoon in November, up against the NFL and the Steelers.

Univ of Arizona women’s basketball had nearly 7000 in attendance for a game against Long Beach state yesterday. We are just a bad bad product.

There were more people at the Pitt women's game on Saturday night than there were at the men's game on Sunday. And it wasn't even close.

Now part of that was that the women were playing Duquesne, so there were a fair number of Duquesne fans there. But it's not like the Pitt women draw well in the first place.

In any case, there are no excuses for the poor performance that the team and coaches are displaying this year and previous years. No excuses. If they want fans back in the seats, they must improve dramatically and quickly, beginning with the head coach.

Is this true? What if someone has season tickets in upper level?
They put them in a few years ago, primarily for concerts and other non-basketball uses. I think they had the curtains down for the exhibitions.

The curtains were there for the regular season but were up. I don't know about the exhibition games.

Tear it down. Build a football stadium. And build an 8000 seat basketball arena somewhere else.

I still contend that the Syria Mosque lot would have been the perfect place for a 8-10K arena and concert venue. But freaking UPMC had to hold onto that parking lot until recently.

Better idea , have really good Fb and Bb teams that fill the stadium and the Pete .

Those that romanticize Pitt stadium forget how horrible the traffic was in Oakland
Yes - we currently have two really good venues for our two revenue sports. Why would we change that to instead have one crappy venue for those two sports?

So does the real estate situation in Oakland
We know there’s room for a basketball arena and a football stadium, so it’s kind of a moot point. A multi-purpose monstrosity like the Carrier Dome would hurt both sports.

Where is the room?

The head coach needs to improve in what way? He is 47 yrs. old and this is his 3rd HC job, I wonder if he believes he is deficient in some manner?

Game preparation, recruiting, game day execution, overall record, staff choices. He needs to focus on his job. I doubt he even recognizes he is deficient. He's not real smart.

I'm in the lower level and I had to push one aside to leave on Sunday. I think they were trying to lock us in.

Well either that or block the light from the concourse since they darken the seating areas so much at this point.

No, on second thought it's probably to lock us in.

Students home for Thanksgiving, a far from ranked team, and people getting ready for eating Turkey On Thursday. Why would you expect a crowd?
