Per ESPN, Pitt as a team was given a three star rating with respect to making the final four. MISS ST was given two stars, Iowa State three, and Xavier 5 (though it is noted they are 6-3 since injury).
  • “Three stars means a team is talented but must play the best basketball of its season -- and get lucky.”

I think they beat Miss St and upset Iowa State and lose a tight game to Xavier on Sunday and just miss getting to the Sweet 16. It will be a fun week though overall with a bunch of games and a lot of tense moments which is what the tournament is all about. Gonna be a ton of fun as a fan speaking for myself and I’m sure many others playing late Friday afternoon during the day in Greensboro against Iowa State if they get by the 1st Four and beat Miss St. Tournament action during the day those first two days of the NCCA Tournament is the absolute best and to see Pitt be included in that once again will be a lot of fun.

The last two weeks since ND have been deflating as far as expectations. I appreciate the overachieving through this season and it’s been fun, but I think the clock has struck midnight.

Am hoping for a win vs Miss St and Iowa St. Think we can play with Xavier. If somehow we meet Texas we will probably get smoked. In short, any win from this point forward is fantastic.

In retrospect, the talk was beat Cuse and they were in. They did it and think ND was an emotional drain for them with the emotional factor for ND as well. They regrouped and came within a bounce of winning the ACC on the road. Then they were told to beat GT, which they did. Then likely another emotional bounce versus a surging Duke that has won 9 in a row. I think they regroup tomorrow, though not a huge fan of the inside matchups. But if Pitt hits 3’s early, it will be hard for Miss to catch up.

If Pitt can get up big on MSU early and build on that lead, they should win. MSU isn't built to make comebacks. But we're going to have to rebound better than we ever have and play some gritty defense to pull this one out. In other words, a complete 40 minute game in all aspects of the game.

Lots of choices to your poll question @Pitt2006 ... I'd like to see us go 1-0 on Tuesday. That's as far as I'll predict! 😀
Yep, just trying to get a feel of the fans prior to tomorrow night. My mindset is also one game at a time, but also as a fan, like to think ahead:(

How far will Pitt go?

256 miles to Dayton.

Then 428 miles to Greensboro.

Sadly... I don't think Pitt will end up going the 841 miles to Kansas City.

If we can get past MSU somehow, we have an easier path forward than many of the higher seeded teams in other brackets. I wouldn't want to face an Alabama or Kansas as our next game somewhere.

But getting past MSU, with how they play defense and rebound, will be a huge challenge. Just trying to score on them will be a struggle. If they have their way, they'll keep the game in the 50's and wear us down. If we can't make this a game where we score in the 70's, we will lose.
