OK so if you calculate all the points we would be ahead of Penn state right now as is IF Patrick Jones and Reynolds were 3 stars each. Now both those guys have an offer list that is impressive for a 3 star recruit, both have great stats, great measurables yet both 2 stars. So with those 2 being 3 stars we go from 29th to 16th.

It's so very subjective. To be outraged at rankings is a bit silly. I'm happier to know we are getting recruits that lots of other people also want that fit our system, have size and speed and seem like good kids. Season can't start fast enough.

Agreed to a point. If you're within 10 or so I completely agree. I used to think average stars were more important but I don't think so anymore either. Psu has 2 kickers that are 3 stars that shouldn't be. Not picking on psu but it's such nuance that one or 2 miss stared recruits alter those rankings so much

Average stars isn't perfect but better than a system that gives too much credit to the number of recruits. What doesn't really get measured is whether position needs get filled.

Stars matter, meaning higher ranking classes are obviously for the best, but really moreso for the elite programs. For programs like psu, Wisconsin, Pitt, etc, getting good players that fit a system is what matters. Have the 18th ranked class doesn't mean much if the team with the 29th ranked class has a head coach that can actually coach and lead and consistently has better results on the field.

Penn State has a real nice coach in James Franklin

Check Vandy out!

Yes Vandy whose once proud school was decimated by the idiot coaches horrific recruiting techniques. Put themselves on sanctions after 10 rapes tied to recruiting all for a guy that beat teams with a combined record of 33-71.

Wow... hardly impressive and thats your coach!! Hey, good luck with that bozo

I have been beating this drum for a while now. The whole system is built on complete nonsense.

However that's not the problem. The problem is when people take this obviously and intentionally inexact list and try to assign some sort of real meaning to it. That's when things get really goofy.

There is a big difference between a 3 star with 25 offers, including big-time schools, and a 3 star with 7 mediocre schools. That is another big flaw.
The rankings are not based just are the star rating. It based on the Rating of the prospect. You can have a 3 star with a 5.8 or a 5.5 rating. The recruit with 5.8 is worth more in the team score then a recruit with 5.5. So not all 3 star recruits are equal.

The problem is every school can say that. Mennet and Sanders are 5 star on two other recruiting sites. Penn State has 5 other guys who are 3 star on rivals and 4 star on other sites.

The key is to win games! Recruiting should address needs both short term and long term. JUCOs and transfers can also help. Pitt has 2 stud DEs able to play next season that will help address our DE need. We have a great DB class this year that should serve us well the next 3-4 years. Recruiting rankings are a fan thing. Coaches want to win games!

Many Sports Writers will do Stories on College Recruiting being the Life Blood of any and all Programs. Just like they love doing how NFL Teams got to the Super Bowl by Drafting Top Players or bringing in Free Agents?

Recruiting Rankings are still perceptions and attempts of calculations of how a CFB Program is doing and another way of adding to competition among coaches and players and universities.

Recruiting Rankings are growing even bigger during the age of Social Media and Instant Messaging, and that is not going to change and why Coaches and Programs now use it as another publicity moment after the regular season is over.

Same with the NFL Draft and Free Agents Signings, it is keeping NFL football on the Sports Pages during the NHL, MLB, and NBA seasons.

Following what a Recruit chooses or tweets is still a reality and causes controversies and so will the rankings.

It still comes down to coaching, execution, and ball bounces winning and losing games, among 2 to 3 Players and 4 to 6 Plays in most games. Recruiting Rankings has become a past time and that is never going away, and now is becoming bragging rights, even when some Teams no longer play each other every year.

Coach Narduzzi needed more talent and got it, and now has more pressure to coach it up even better to win with it, after the final recruiting rankings today.

I am happy in seeing and watching the Players that Pitt wanted and how we compare, prepare, and move on to see Pitt play this year.

Coach Pat Narduzzi proved he could be a Head Coach in his First Year and now has proven he can Recruit too.
